Not much is known about Iza's mental state, though it can be assumed that being bred as a faceless minion waiting to be assigned a purpose has taken its toll on her emotionally. [ HISTORIC INFO ]
Birth's are not documented by the Onibi clan. Children are not named, friends and family are not called upon, and the relationship between parent and child is nonexistent. When a baby is born they're immediately taken away from the parents and raised together by the community as a whole before bonds can be formed. All of this is done as part of a tradition to prevent the clan from growing too attached to one another. Just like the countless others who bore the cursed surname this was the same for Iza. Her earliest memories include a dark crowded room filled with nameless, faceless, children like herself.
Until she was pulled aside and engaged personally by the man they revered as a God among them. One of the only men in the entire family that had a name to call himself. The leader; Onibi Yori.
For reasons she's still uncertain of he singled her out and kept her by his side, personally overseeing her study and training in a way that was unheard of. He enrolled her in the ninja academy and was impressed by her performance over the years. Yori continued to push her to the brink of exhaustion, eventually managing to teach her elemental recomposition. When she graduated he sat her down inside of the clan's secret compound before the other elders.
He explained to her a fraction of the reason as to why she was kept so close to him. Years prior the Onibi clan split into two. The main family, stationed in Kumogakure, and their sister clan scattered to the wind across the world. She was to find and assassinate their elders and its leader, retrieve precious clan information from their records, and bring the two branches under Yori's control without being discovered by anyone. Yori had given this mission to scores of other clansmen he believed worthy of succeeding him and becoming his "children." All of them failed.
If she could do this than she would be formally adopted by him as his daughter, become heiress to the Onibi, and earn herself the given name "Iza."
She would earn the right to be considered a "person" by the clan.
However, the punishment for failure was torture and exile. Without question Iza accepted the impossible lifelong task. She was given an outfit to wear, a weapon to wield, and complete access to all the clan's resources.
Although why a random Genin would be singled out and entrusted with such a mission is a mystery she has yet to solve...
