A phenomenon of organized violent conflict, typified by extreme aggression, societal disruption, adaptation, and high mortality. In general there is agreement that this involves at least two organized groups, is a premeditated activity at least on the part of one side, and at least one of the groups uses violence against the other. The objective of waging armed conflict differs in accord with a group's role in a conflict: The goals of offensive warfare are typically the submission, assimilation or destruction of another group, while the goals of defensive warfare are simply the repulsion of the offensive force and, often, survival itself. Relative to each other, combatants in warfare are called enemies. War is hell. The land is in turmoil. Still, the story continues on from every corner in the world.
Oolong's story is one of both peace and violence. Having lived a century free of conflict, as man assembled cold steel to place at each others throats, their war would spread throughout the land; their war would involve the world. Their war would effect him.
Secluded at the Takasankei Plateau, Oolong's life was peaceful, he and his kind having little to do with the world outside of their own until a young boy no older then fourteen ventured to their very doorstep. It was then that Oolong and his people would change, a change he foresaw in his dreams while slumbering beneath the largest Bassai Banbuu tree in the land. The boy would later be recalled as one of the greatest swordsmen to ever live; Hattori Hanzō, a name that shall echo for all eternity.
Where Hanzō learned his impressive swordsmanship would remain a mystery for decades, only the many legends telling the tale of his woes as he climbed the mountain of greatness in search for strength were spoken of; the strength to do what was necessary, the strength to survive, the strength to move his people with his inner strength alone. It is within these lost tales where the journey between student and teacher begin, a relationship that neither would ever forget, and for one, never recreate.
Excepting the boy into their home, into a sea of forest green that spanned for miles with no end in sight, Oolong's son Ijji quickly befriended the young and fragile child, the two remaining inseparable for much of the boys first stay. Eventually the young boy left, only to return weeks later. As he continued to journey back and forth, his tales of the giant beasts who roamed the mountains north of his village were used as folk tales, a child's bedtime story. In time, after gaining his trust, Oolong would begin to teach the young Hanzō in the way of the sword. It was during these many years that their bond would grow stronger then ever, and would undoubtedly be tested in the future.
Many believed the tales told to be pure imagination, others paid it little mind, while a few took a select interest. Noticing the young Hanzō's skill with a sword, as the boy ventured into the den of Oolong and his family once more, he was followed by a few brave men.
Into the wilderness they went, where Oolong quickly discovered the intruders who had invaded his home, without his consent. Enraged, he barred Hanzō and every member of his village from ever stepping foot on their grounds again; to try and keep a bond intact, the same bond he felt had been betrayed, Oolong gave his word to aid Hanzō. Signing a blood pact, he would continue to train the young lad until he'd grown well into adulthood. Sadly, their paths would collide once more, testing their bonds.
With the talk of war approaching him from Hanzō, initially Oolong refused to partake in such, for he instead sought to continue to live peacefully with his family. Unfortunately, Oolong's son did not share his same beliefs. Believing he owed his good friend Hanzō, Ijji, without his fathers consent or knowing ventured off into the First Great Shinobi War alongside someone who he believed to be a brother of his; never to return. The news deeply saddened Oolong, throwing him into depression for three long years.
Both the father and the half brother felt responsible for the passing of Ijji which inevitably set the two on a course to seek justice, righteousness. However, for one it was personal, the other used the opportunity merely to gain the strength required to fight alongside the greatest of names such as the Uchiha and Senju. And so, against his better judgment, an avenging Oolong set out to rid the world of chaos once and for all, leaving his people in search for the one responsible for his sons passing. Following Hanzō into battle, the two fought with such ferocity that their names spanned to the four corners of the world, their roars enough to send chills down the spines of their foes.
As war continued, Oolong had already begun to notice the change in Hanzō. While he fought for the memory of his son, to end the chaos, Hanzō thrived on war; he fought only to keep fighting. As the man's master, Oolong grew frustrated with his pupil, always hoping and wishing for him to change his ways, to lead a life not committed solely to war.
Believing his master was only trying to fool him into poverty, to rid his name from history, Hanzō challenged Oolong's intentions for his deceased son, wondering if he truly would seek out the one responsible, or merely use the wars eventual end to simply return home, without avenging his son by vanquishing his killer. Only days had passed where Oolong would finally show his student just how intent he was on avenging his fallen son. Across the landscape of Kusa no Kuni was where Hanzō's clan, the Hattori, did battle with the then rising Daimyo, Date Terumune, whom had contracted Tigers, then rivals to the Pandas.
Outnumbered and on the open field, it was there where Oolong would meet face to face with his sons killer; Tai Lung, Tiger of Jian Jao. The two clashed among the humans, their ferocity outmatched, their will and desire to end one another more then apparent. In the end, Oolong would prevail, besting Tai Lung in combat. However, in memory of his son, instead of striking the tiger down, he forgave him, understanding that he too had been pushed into this war of the world. However, after winning the field, Hanzō, amidst the retreating enemy laid his sights upon the two ending their conflict, enraged that it had not ended in the death of his brothers killer.
Poised to end the tigers life, Hanzō attempted to stroke the broken Tai Lung in two only to be repelled by Oolong himself. Finally seeing the ways of his apprentice, much to his dismay, Oolong destroyed the contract between the two, disbanding the pact they'd once shared. Outraged, in a fit of rage Hanzō looked to cut down his own master, though fell short as the dust settled. Dispatching his former student with much ease and in front of the eyes of his own army, Hattori Hanzō's name in history would forever be blemished, tainted. Every battle won and foe slain would turn to that single chink in what was thought to be an impenetrable armor, pointing to the loss he suffered at the hand of his own.
Returning to the Takasankei Plateau, the tired and worn master was welcomed back with open arms to live out the rest of his days in peace. With the First Great War coming to an end, his prayers had been answered, the world knew peace once more...
Years later however, a man who was a shadow of his former self had ventured back into the den of Pandas, looking for his former master to save him, to allow him yet another chance at redemption. Seeing through the ploy of the now estranged Hattori Hanzō, Oolong knew of his hidden intentions. Refusing to help the man, he could not go without giving who he considered a son, advice on his future. That advice was to not live for war. As Hanzō left the den to try and regain his former glory in the starting of the Second Great Shinobi War, against Oolong's advice, he could not stray from battle, losing his life as he ventured into a battle outnumbered 4:1.
Although they had not spoken for years, as news of Hanzō's passing reached the ears of those atop the Takasankei Plateau, like he had with Ijji, Oolong prayed for his fallen son, hoping his journey into the afterlife was a safe one.
As war began to spread once more, Oolong heard the land as it cried out in pain, his prayers having gone unanswered left him uncertain of what was to come. Living out his days away from war, as years passed, he was visited in his dreams by the late Pandaren Sage. Upon having the dream, Oolong decided that if the world were to change, then he would need to help bring about such change. Leaving the Takasankei Plateau, he now travels to try and teach, beginning to heal the world of its wounds instead of leaving it to darkness.

A wondering hermit, Oolong is known for his mastery craftsmanship and teachings in martial arts. Since the end of the First Great Shinobi war he has stopped his teachings, focusing on restoring the world to its former glory, a world not consumed with the embers of war. After losing his last student to the war he firmly believes that the bonds between shinobi and summonings have been lost. NOTABLE QUOTES
"If one's inner strength is enough to move another, imagine what the world could accomplish together collectively."
“One's greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time they fall.”
"Your fighting must be formless, shapeless, like water. Each movement must be fluid and unpredictable to the eye as you mislead your foe, allowing you to flow like the running river and crash like a tsunami. Now, feel the ground beneath your feet and become it. Harness its strength and your strikes will know no equal, use its solid foundation to cause your opponents to flinch at your very touch. You must be like the air around you, always evasive, never one to be held or restrained, forever elusive from the clutches of your opponent. Above all else, your spirit and desire to never fail must roar like an eternal flame. Use your will to smother the fear your enemies try to instill in you, use that fear against them, show them that under no circumstance will you give in!!"
