[/color]: After the conclusion of the Fourth Great Shinobi War, things did not go so peachy and sunny for Amegakure. Every problem that they had been facing prior to the start of the war rushed back to them in striking technicolor. They were left without a leader after the deaths of Pain and Konan, their village torn asunder by the battles. The lawless land became something akin to a Wild West battleground, with the Daimyo afraid to even step foot in the general vicinity of the village. One of the larger, more dominant clans stepped up to take control over the area, and essentially proceeded to seal off Amegakure from the other villages for nearly half a century. They disallowed any importing or exporting of goods, and any missions proposed by the Daimyo were taken by them, rather than being distributed to the shinobi population. This resulted in the eventual decay of Amegakure's economy, with the ruffians keeping the bulk of the mission payouts for themselves, and trickling menial amounts back to the village. This resulted in infighting over what resources were left, and this eventually evolved into a civil war within the village for survival, punctuated by small, violent but frequent bursts of skirmishes.PERSONALName: Wani Ryuze
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Date of Birth: March 4
Relatives: Wani Clan
Semblance:
Height: Ryuze has a big name, and an even bigger reputation, which explains the disappointment that some feel when she steps into the room. Ryuze stands at a quite paltry 157.5 cm, or 5'2", and is often overlooked in a crowd.
Weight: Slim and wispy with little effort at all, Ryuze's appearance fibs in regards to her actual weight. Appearing to barely top 45.5kg, Ryuze actually tips the scales at a whopping 550kg, or close to 1,100 pounds, due to the effects of her kekkei-genkai.
Eyes: Her left eye (and her only remaining eye) is a vibrant, molten gold, fierce and piercing her devotion to her village and people.
Hair: Long, blonde and shoulder-length, there are spots in which it was burnt in years and battles past, but still retains a flowy, almost angelic quality about it.
Personality: Ryuze is determined. That is probably the first and foremost thing anyone will tell you about her. There is nothing that she has set her mind to and not achieved. By no means ruthless or cutthroat, she is a woman of immense honor who prides honesty above everything else. This said: she means what she says and does not mince words. She values internal strength in others...her clan holds internal strength and resolve in high regard: muscles, bragging and flashy jutsu will do nothing to impress her.
Her struggles since childhood and the state of her home have made her into a quite bitter, blunt and forceful person. She particularly hold a bitterness toward the greater Hidden Villages because of their inactivity and ignorance regarding the troublesome situation in Amegakure. The passion she has for the wellbeing and concern of her home village and her people can bring her to proud tears and wrathful rage within moments of one another.
Outwardly, Ryuze appears cool and calm. A bit nervous, in political situations, as she has no background as a diplomat, but functional. Inside, it's a completely different story. Ryuze suffers heavily from a mixture of PTSD and what could best be defined as an identity crisis. It has left her anxious in normal social situations, and she finds it extremely difficult to relate to others and thusly form human relationships. It's rather ironic that while she fought with all her heart and soul for the freedom of her village, she is now unable to enjoy it. She was born into war, raised in bloodshed and became a participant out of necessity. She has never known peace. Disparity is her 'normal'. And the fact that she still has another eighty plus years on this earth, unable to settle, unable to be normal, has her teetering on the verge of suicide. The only thing that keeps her here is that there's still so much left to do to with Amegakure. Only when her people have leveled themselves, the economy has stabilized and the village is able to stand strong on its own will Ryuze be comfortable seeking her own kind of peace.

Brief History
This would continue until about fifteen years prior to now, when the whole corrupt system would be brought to a screeching halt. The perpetrators of this change would be six teenagers, members of the Wani clan. The Wani were a small, not-at-all influential clan to that point, possessing great power but unwilling to stick their necks out for others. But this band of kids, sick of watching their friends and families suffer under the thumb of the corrupt, would take on the "leaders" of Amegakure, and within four years, had whittled their numbers down to the point that they could drive them from the village. Some of the older shniobi of the village, seeing this as reminiscent of when Pain brought them up from the depths of despair, joined the effort in reclaiming their village. Other up and coming Genin saw these teens their age, led by Wani Ryuze, as hometown heroes: people of no particular name or talent, winning back what was theirs with nothing more than sheer determination. With the backing of their village, the Wani managed to claim back their village after six years.
Still having no formal leader, it would be a no-brainer for the people of Amegakure to put their trust into the Wani and looked to them as the de facto leaders of the village. And they did much to improve life in Amegakure. They established a small militia to control the skirmishes, and distributed resources fairly. They rebuilt the village council, and put the power back into the hands of the people where it belonged. With the limited funds they had, they rebuilt the schools, homes and landmarks that had been destroyed. And they distributed missions from the Daimyo to help bring money back into the village. Still impoverished and in likely the worst state of any of the shinobi villages, they were much better off than they had been.
It wouldn't take long for Ame to decide to elect a leader, and there would be few more qualified than the one who had led the squad that mounted the liberation of the village. And so, at twenty-five years of age, Wani Ryuze was elected Lady and Leader of Amegakure no Sato, in their first democratic election one year prior to today.
