Masahige and Sio had finally crossed the border from the Land of Rain into the Land of Fire, though that still didn't mean much of a reprieve could be given. The world still thought that Sio was locked away as a fossil, which meant she couldn't be allowed to be recognized until Masahige chose to unveil her before the entire village. He had to announce that it was safe for her to be free, and then he had to find some way to justify her new-found experience with her abilities. These were things that would be difficult, but necessary.
At least they were hidden within the trees, much to the nature of their village. Masahige guided Sio through a thick forest. There was not much for exposure to the sunlight. Clearings were scarce; it was perfect for low key travel. Despite that, the shade did not detract from the heat. They would not be encountering any villages as they made their way to the Hidden Leaf unless they had to. Hopefully, Sio could deal with that.
Well, considering the Hidden Rain's poorly status, Masahige was confident she knew what it meant to have very little to work with. She'd be just fine.

This has certainly been an event filled week. First Shu had been informed that an army had been molded for his using and on top of that his brother, Son Gokū, had gained his freedom. Things were going better than expected. The forces he was gathering to combat the Bijūtsukai were growing by the day. Right underneath everyone's' noses.
While inspecting some of the high quality soldiers within the San'aku he was informed of movement in Hi no Kuni. The Hokage was heading eastward. The tanuki smirked. There was only one possible reason Shu could conclude for the Hokage's voyage: Kurama.
Moving with haste he followed the information, opting to wait within the forests of Hi no Kuni. It seemed the most logical route they would take, and it sure as hell beat staying within the borders of Ame no Kuni. It was too...wet.
Perching himself in one of the trees he spread his sand throughout the forest, a light layer that could easily be misconstrued as dust. It took him a bit of time to learn to filter out the random wildlife in the area, but after following up on a few dead ends he found the pair.
"Greetings!" he called out from above, a wide grin on his face. "It seems the Hokage has finally come to his senses. Ojin-san had faith you would in due time," Shu said as he dropped to the ground.
Play along, he messaged telepathically to Sio and Kurama.

Sio looked back fondly as they left the humid, rain-soaked lands that had served as her home for countless months now. While she was going to miss that place, it was needless to say that she was looking forward to getting back to Konoha, back to her grandparents, back to her friends. All the same, though, she would miss Ryuze and the other members of the Amegakure elite, as well as Kumiho and the rest of the Wani clan. The experiences and lessons that they gave to her were some that she would not and could not have learned otherwise.
As they walked, Sio brought her hands up to her face, rubbing at her eyes. There was a fine mist of particles in the area, and it made the hair on the back of her neck stand up. Keep an eye out... Kurama said to her silently, growing edgy. Not too soon after Kurama's warning came Shukaku's warning in their head.
Sio barely had time to take it all in when they were suddenly greeted from above, that familiar human form taunting from overhead. Sio watched Shu, wide-eyed, only now taking in what he said.
"O-ojin" Sio said, taking a step back. Even though it was just Shu, that name still sent shivers up her spine, and the step back was involuntary. For all intents and purposes, her fear right at that split second was real. She looked to Masahige to see what his reaction would be. That would dictate what she did next.
...Well played. Kurama said, surprised.

Masahige narrowed his gaze at the intruder, clearly not pleased with the interruption in their journey. That they had been found so easily was bothersome. But now Masahige was forced to deal with an encounter, and he was hardly in the mood for pleasantries. Already the ground surrounding him shifted form, sloshing around as mud while Masahige stood still.
He did not act on his aggression, yet.
"What do you expect from this encounter, Bijūtsukai?" Masahige asked. "Your fool of a leader could not convince me to abide by his wishes, so what chance do you have? Or, do you intend to take Sio by force?"
Once his answers were given, that would determine Masahige's set course of actions. Of course, he had a feeling this was going to end up a conflict. Ninja didn't have some grand luck, unless their name was Uzumaki Naruto. And even then, the dumb bastard couldn't stay out of the thick of it.

Taking notice of the shift in the earth around the Hokage the tanuki could already tell this would be annoying. Mud was no different than water in his mind. It needlessly complicated things. Not a dramatic hinderance but frustrating to deal with, like a splinter or a paper cut. His annoyance would stay internalized. Outwardly, he would appear just as jovial, if not more excited by the Hokage raising his guard.
"I expect the Kyūbi," Shu said casually, his golden eyes looked Sio dead in the eye. "It's as simple as that." Despite how listlessly he said it, the statement carried the full seriousness of his intentions. This went far beyond attempting to frame his hunters. No, no, Shu's desire to have his Bijū Alliance had never been stronger, and for this war to pan out properly he needed his ace in the hole.
Why thank you, brother, the tanuki said proudly to the fox. It is time for you to do your part. Let us deal with this pest and be on our way. He did not particularly care how Masahige was dealt with. Just so long as Kurama was on his side by the end of it all.
"But if force is what you require," Shu said as his expression darkened. He raised a hand and snapped his fingers. In that instant a stirring in the forest could be felt as the sand particles began to rush back towards him, creating a mild gust spiraling around the three of them. The oppressive nature of his chakra setting into the area. "I'm sure my pet will be more than enough for you, Hokage-san."
"Gaahaha!" the disembodied voice of the Shukaku clone echoed through the growing whirl of sand. The voice was deep and rich, but before all else it was threatening. "Die! Die! Die!" He chanted as a large beastial arm materialized above Masahige and slammed down in an attempt to crush both the Hokage and Sio with great force.

Sio had long past that recovered over hearing that name, and was now merely watching Masahige and Shu. What was his angle? What was he doing? She would trust the tanuki for no other purpose than he had given her no reason not to, to this point, but all the same, it was hard to play along when Sio didn't even know what the game was.
Whatever was going on, Shu was sparing no expense and certainly flinging himself headlong into his role. As he summoned his chakra back to him, the sand particles whipping up around them, Sio closed her eyes, concentrating. Now you'll get to see what this has all been for, Masahige. Watch me closely.she thought to herself, savoring the gentle warmth of the chakra pooling up around her. Unlike the corrosive, hot red chakra that Naruto manifested from Kurama, Sio's bijuu cloak was shimmering pastel peach, near angelic as it dripped upward off of her, dissolving into the air.
It was testament to their partnership, and to their strength. The cloak built, surrounding her as whiskers etched themselves onto her face, "ears" drifting upward as four tails elegantly slipped out from behind her. And as that sand hand came up, attempting to slam down on them, Sio extended a tail, wrapping it round a high tree branch to their right and catapulting her out of harm's way. "You won't get me that easily..." she said, standing on the branch, looking at Shu. "If it's force you want, it's force you'll get." She extended a hand, allowing the chakra to swirl and form. First, red-hot Katon, then layered with normal chakra, contained within a shell of katon once more. Her Katon Rasengan.
Hand protected by the shield of chakra from her cloak, two of her tails split off, shooting ahead to wrap around two trees in a sort of slingshot motion. Whipping her forward, she fired at Shukaku, Rasengan held forward. She was well aware that the fire sphere would likely not do anything to him, being made of sand. However, it would look suspicious if she simply stood and did nothing at all. It would have to look convincing.

Well, that was surprising.
He leaned and threw himself to the side, evading the attack. Though, truth be told, now Masahige wondered if that was truly the beast Shukaku. While he had previously held doubt of Ojin's desire to keep the beasts captured, Kumiko had informed him otherwise. Her meeting with Ojin had proven his sincerity. The Bijūtsukai meant to seal the beasts away; not use them as tools.
But there was no time to ponder that any further.
With Sio taking on Shukaku, Masahige set his course for the Bijūtsukai. He drew energy from the earth, and his form rapidly changed. There was no drawn-out, DBZ-style "haaaaaa!" transformation bullshit here. One moment he was fully human in appearance, and in the next moment a human-sized Tyrannosaurus Rex lunged at the man who claimed to be a Bijūtsukai. He turned his body mid-lunge, aiming to slam his tail against his opponent.
Following Masahige were five amorphous globs of mud for backup. Although he hoped that Sio would keep the attention of Shukaku, Masahige did not keep his hopes up. He needed to be ready just in case this all fell on him to deal with alone.

"Huh."
That was the only real reaction that Shu had to what just took place. While he was more than sure his attack wouldn't have killed either of them, their means of defense was unexpected. He had just assumed the child would jump out of the way. She seemed the speedy type. Nope, the bitch went and busted out four tails off the bat. Not that it was anything of concern. It was not-so-common knowledge that those "chakra cloaks" the jinchūriki enjoyed using so much was just a failed attempt by his siblings to mimic his Body of Sand. A poor man's knock off.
The now fully formed, human-sized, clone observed Sio as she prepared her Rasengan, his growl reverberating through the air. "Idiot fox!" the Shukaku clone cackled as it shot an arm towards the approaching Sio. The sand rapidly expanded to form a partial sphere around the girl. As the fiery ball of chakra collided with his arm he tried to close the sphere, trapping her with the full effects of her own jutsu.
I did not realize you were so sweet on this child that you would grant her so much of your power, the clone spoke telepathically. Nevertheless, the war will be starting soon. I need you on the front lines with me.
In the meantime, the Hokage had pulled some kind of voodoo and turned himself into a T-Rex. Shu was actually a little taken aback by the transformation. He thought the creatures had gone extinct. Nevertheless, the tanuki wasted little time on idle thoughts. Jumping back to avoid the tail Shu inhaled deeply, kneading chakra into the breath. As he landed he exhaled violently, sending a highly pressurized bullet1 of wind towards the Hokage.
1Fūton: Renkūdan = Wind Release: Drilling Air Bullet Shu used a scaled down version of this.

Sio seared toward Shu, hand outstretched and Rasengan held tight. As the sand began to bubble up around her, forming the half-sphere, she buckled down, grasping the sphere tighter as she met the cocoon of sand and it expanded to close around her.
With a flare of chakra, Sio blazed and extinguishing the Rasengan with a closing of her fist, she began spinning into a twist, demolishing the sand shell and exploding out of it. Sio hit the ground on her side, unable to adjust herself for the landing, skidding a bit before managing to right herself. Digging her heels into the ground, she stopped her slide, now winding up behind Shu. Wasting no time, she jumped to a stand, forming the handseals for the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu. A single clone formed next to Sio, and the pair moved in tandem toward Shu. One leaped, while the other stayed low. The upper Sio went for a head-punch while the actual Sio spun in for a leg sweep of the clone.
What is your end-game here, Shukaku? Kurama said telepathically as the pair of cloaked Sio engaged the "Bijutsukai". Because whatever game you're playing here, I don't think the Hokage is playing along with you.

So his opponent dodged. His momentum carried him into a full turn, and he crouched slightly as he faced the Bijūtsukai. When the air bullet fired at him, ripping across the ground and tearing the soil apart, Masahige leaped up into the air to avoid the attack. He was lucky that he had not lost the pacing from his own attack, and that this form was quick.
In the air, Masahige spotted Sio and her Kage Bunshin as they made a tag-team attempt on the Bijūtsukai. The moment they reached their target, Masahige had returned to the ground. The moment he touched the ground, he morphed the ground surrounding himself into tar. Masahige stood on a little island of solid ground, and two clones of tar emerged on either side of him. They were made after his human appearance.
He left them behind, however. In the wake of Sio's attack, Masahige charged at the Bijūtsukai. He had every intention of headbutting the bastard half a mile away.

The clone simply laughed as Sio erupted from his prison and skidded away. She was making good use of Kurama's chakra. He had trained her well enough. Sio would make an excellent pawn in the upcoming fight, but he was no where near done testing her capabilities. As far as jinchūriki go, and possibly even a ninja, she was still a rookie.
Shu's eyes followed Sio as she ended up being blasted behind him. As she darted towards him the "Bijūtsukai" sucked his teeth. They were trying to keep him mobile. This was not his preferred method of combat. No, Gaara had embraced his style beautifully. Staying stationary while allowing the sand to work its magic. But he could not do that. Not overtly in any case. Fortunately, Shōgō's body was agile enough to accommodate the situation.
Jumping back once more to put some distance between Sio and himself, Shu held a hand to the sky. As the Sio's drew closer he channeled to the hand and swiped downward violently, sending a powerful force of pressure1 down on the Sio's. He also made sure to pepper in some extra chakra just make sure that even Kurama would feel the full force of the hit, as well as leave a sizeable crater in the earth. Once his feet touched the ground he made a backhanded swipe with his other hand, launching an equally powerful shockwave at Sio once more. The wave uprooting any and all trees caught in its pathway.
I've already stated my intentions. I'm here for you. Your talents are wasted being kept under lock and key in these villages, Shu answered simply. But this is no game, Kurama. If the Hokage continues to interfere then I will kill him.
Returning his attention to Masahige as he rampaged towards him at full speed. There was not enough time to execute a proper Renkūdan, at least not one good enough to stop his momentum.
He needed sand.
Before he could finish snapping his fingers the clone had already come to his aid. A stream of sand erupted from Shukaku's remaining arm and snaked across the ground at blinding speeds. It cut between Masahige and Shu before forming into a thick wall that was more than capable of blocking the headbutt. Within moments the clone had already prepared its next move, aiming its tail in the general direction of Masahige and his clones. The tanuki then began to fire sharpened missiles of sand in rapid succession, cackling as it did so and chanting "Die."

Ah, so a kidnapping... Kurama said, stroking his chin as Shu dodged the Sio's assault and put some distance between them. But you can call on us whenever you like...so this is entirely unnecessary, really. You already have us...Let's just give them a good show, remind them that the threat is still alive and leave them scratching their heads and pissing their pants. Sorry, brother, but I'm not quite ready to live a life on the lam yet.
The pressure rushed down on Sio, stomping her into the ground like a roach under a shoe. The ground went concave under her, also buckling under the pressure of Shu's shockwave, and the gravity lifted. One final shockwave bore down upon her, almost as if a "fuck you!" from the tanuki, leaving Sio sprawled in the center of the crater. She slowly fought to stand, numerous ribs broken by the second impact into the ground. Kurama's healing factor was already at work, knitting the fragmented bone back together, and Sio struggled to her feet, bearing down on the pain and racing to the edge of the crater and lifting herself out of it. "You can't have us! Not....today...." Sio shouted, speaking both to the "Bijutsukai" and to Shu. She was not about being kidnapped...she would gladly go anywhere the tanuki would ask of her, but on her terms. She took a moment, allowing Kurama's chakra to finish working on her ribs, attempting to formulate a plan for a counterattack.

Masahige's head met with the wall of sand, well, head on. The sudden stop disoriented him, but he regained himself in time to notice Shukaku's tail, and the projectile coming straight at him. Unable to take normal measures of avoidance, Masahige instead transformed his body into mud1. The first sand missile ran straight through his body, though it didn't really phase him.
Two globs of mud that accompanied him filled the hole in his body. Then Masahige started taking action. His clones had already begun evasive maneuvers. One of them had, unfortunately, been obliterated by a sand missile. The other, however, was tactically avoiding the sand missiles and getting closer to Shukaku's body.
Masahige was avoiding the missiles as well, though he remained in his mud state. Before he transformed back into his normal self, he needed to filter out the grains of sand stuck in the mud. He'd rather not let the beast rip him to shreds from the inside.
The destroyed clone from before reformed, and it worked it's way towards Shukaku. The two clones needed to get as close to the beast as possible and draw in it's fire. Masahige needed to create a window of opportunity for himself to adjust his battle strategy. He knew what he needed to do in order to deal with this enemy, but he couldn't do it with such stubby fucking arms.

1TSUCHI NO EREMENTO 土のエレメント Masahige is also highly regarded for a technique which makes him alternately regarded as an Earth Elemental. He can, at will, morph his body into different earthen substances. These substances range from solid rock, to mud, to tar, and more. In these different forms, he can manipulate his body in the same way that the Hōzuki Ichizoku from the Hidden Mist are able to manipulate their liquid body states.

When it comes to getting rid of the Bijūtsukai nothing I do is "unnecessary," Shu answered. You say that I have your support and I believe it, brother, but you are far from accessible. It would seem that how much effort Shu put into keeping his siblings in the loop had gone largely unnoticed. Which he was perfectly okay with, actually. Without being in the same area it requires a full moon just to contact any of you. And are you foolish enough to believe that this Hokage would allow you to come at my beck and call?
Shu watched as Sio slowly raised up from the crater and he could not help but smile. Battered and bruised. It was nice seeing Kurama, his host at the very least, in such cruddy condition because of him. It was nice considering Gaara and Naruto never bothered to actually finish any of their fights, despite Shu's pleas. But no, the late Kazekage simply wanted to keep his skills polished and could think of no better opponent than the Uzumaki. Before anything decisive could happen, winning or losing, he would end the "spar."
"Oh?" Shu said with a tilted head at Sio's response as the sand missiles pelted the sand wall and the surrounding area. "Would tomorrow fit better into your schedule?"
Son Gokū has freed himself, Kurama. Imagine what the three of us could accomplish if we worked together! Cast away the village and join me. At least until our mutual enemy is destroyed.
On the other side of the battle, the Shukaku clone growled upon seeing Masahige survive being shot. Though, it was to be expected that a kage would not fall so easily. As the clone and the Hokage started to rapidly close the distance, avoiding the missiles to the best of their ability, Shukaku realized he needed to switch his tactics.
As they drew closer the barrage of missiles came to an end and instead he slammed his tail onto the ground. Digging into the earth he whipped it to the side in a backhand-like motion. The result was the creation of a large wave of sand1 that continued to grow as Shukaku used more chakra. The wave rapidly expanded and spread forth, uprooting trees and blanketing the surrounding area in a layer of sand.

Sio stood, holding her ribs, brain feverishly working to formulate some plan against the Bijuu. Why, she had no idea. She knew that Shu wasn't really out to kill her. He needed her. Most of all, he needed Kurama. This was just a show. She had to keep reminding herself of that. But it wasn't just a show for Masahige. And that was the part that concerned her. Shu would go all out against the Hokage. He would kill him. Sio knew that even before he said it. And while Masahige had not gotten his position by accident, the deck was still heavily stacked against him. Chakra, scale, stamina would all be against him in the end. This battle would shear down into pure, unadulterated luck in order to end in Masahige's favor. Sio began hyperventilating. There was no way that she could protect Masahige. Even after all her training, she was nowhere near strong enough. She had thought she was doing something in Amegakure. And against normal shinobi, perhaps she could. But was any jinchuriki really ever trained to take down another? She could not win this battle. She was even less advantaged than the Hokage. If Shu really wanted her dead, she would have been a long time ago. She needed to get stronger, but there was no one who could show her.
Maybe we should go with him. Kurama said simply, throwing another wrench into Sio's panic attack. He's right, you know. There's no way Masahige would let us leave when it became most necessary. Kurama...what are you saying? I'm saying my loyalty is to my brothers and sisters first, and Konoha second. As should yours be. I'm a shinobi of the Leaf! And now you're a Biju, too. And you can't have it both ways. Sio ran her fingers through her hair, struggling to catch her breath. This was just all too much. It was too much to deal with.
I can't, Kurama. Not yet. We were almost home. I just want to see them...one more time. I can't deal...with them just thinking that I was sealed away, and then that I was taken and killed. This all isn't their problem! Why should they have to suffer? For the same reason that we do. Sio dropped her head, the cloak around her beginning to waver before flaring violently to punctuate the girl's frustration. Damned if she did, damned if she didn't. Naruto had warned her about this kind of thing. His warning was not as dire, nor did it carry the severity that it probably should have because at the time, Akatsuki was dissolved. Nobody ever thought they'd have to deal with this sort of thing again.
SHUKAKU!
Kurama called out to his brother. This would be their only chance. He intensified the chakra cloak, another two tails splitting off. Part of the fox's skeleton began to form over her, a cage of bones encasing her arms and torso. A skull began to form over her head, primal and grisly. Knock us out, get us out of here. Sio has agreed that this needs to happen...with much reluctance, at that. Do it before she changes her mind. You tell him, Kurama. Once this is all over, We. Go. Home. You tell him that. The skull's maw parted, a pulsating ball of black and red energy beginning to form. A bijudama, small in size but not lacking in power, building, gathering more and more energy. It fired off toward the Shukaku, tearing up the terrain as it went.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Noticing the end of the missile assault, Masahige reverted back to his normal form. Mid-transformation, however, one of the last sand missiles caught him on the left side of his head. He reverted back to full mud as quickly as he could, but the damage was done. The best he could do was push the sand out to the surface and let it fall away as he reverted back to his normal form.
No time to waste on dealing with the loss of one eye. He still needed to protect Sio, who was apparently manifesting a dangerous amount of chakra. He could feel it, even without looking at her. And you know what? Masahige didn't like what he was feeling. It wasn't the same as when she created that peach-colored chakra coat. This felt more sinister, as if Kurama was more in control.
No time to waste. Shukaku was throwing a wave of sand at him. Masahige formed hand seals in the blink of an eye. A wall of earth - long, thick, and sturdy - rose up from the ground. It grew tall, with Masahige at it's peak. This helped him avoid the wave of sand, and it was supposed to block the wave of sand before it reached Sio.
That is, of course, until her fucking Bijūdama ripped a hole in it and almost threw Masahige off the top of the wall. In the back of his mind, he briefly pictured the back of his hand racing across Sio's cheek. Briefly. But then he thought it was probably the Nine Tails being a bitch.
You know, he'd never had thoughts like that about somebody until this moment.
Anyway, he couldn't focus on that at the moment. He threw together another string of hand seals after as soon as he regained composure after nearly being knocked off his wall. A slight tremor occurred in the earth, before a giant earthen catfish emerged from the ground between Sio and the Bijūtsukai and opened wide to swallow her whole and bring her beneath the ground. He'd fashioned this catfish to be a vessel of transportation to keep Sio away from the Bijūtsukai.
He was hoping she didn't fuck this jutsu up, too.

EARTH RELEASE: EARTH-STYLE WALL | B Rank The user creates a solid wall of earth as a form of defense. Chakra is either converted to earth within the body and then spat out to form the wall or the user can manipulate preexisting earth to form the wall. The earth then instantly rises up and takes form. The barrier itself is also coated with chakra, making its strength incomparable to that of a normal mud wall. Because of the earth's special characteristics, the wall is highly resistant against, for instance, fire and water. Also, for a Kage-class shinobi it is possible to create a vast volume of earth.
ŌNAMAZU 大鯰 | B Rank A giant catfish made of earth swims beneath the battlefield, occasionally causing mild tremors at the will of it's creator. At times, this catfish will emerge from the ground to swallow enemies whole and crush them within it's ever-shifting body. The catfish can be modified to safely carry a large number of passengers through the earth, if the creator so chooses.
A variation of this technique allows for multiple smaller catfish to be created and launched out of the earth as projectiles, slamming into the target(s) at high speed.

The Shukaku clone growled deeply as his wave of sand crashed into the wall of earth. It splashed upwards, rushed along the sides of the wall, and pooled in front of him. The tanuki's golden eyes narrowed on the man on top of the wall. This Hokage wasn't half bad. His style of combat seemed to have a well structured balance of offense and defense, much like his own. This could be a fun little fight.
That's what he felt it. Kurama's power. Undiluted.
Shu watched the shift in Sio's chakra cloak as Kurama took control. The air grew denser, heavy from the the fox's raw chakra. It was marvelous to behold. Yet terrifying, even in this suppressed state. This was the power he wanted at his disposal, and at Kurama's words he could not help but grin.
Good to see there is some brain to accompany all that brawn, Shu said as he watched the Bijūdama form. His mind drifted to Cezerny's comment from a few months back. He had yet to attempt to perform it in any other manner, but he foresaw he would get he opportunity soon.
It fired off with great force, causing Shu to brace himself. In the meanwhile, the Shukaku clone began to conjure his sand. The ball of chakra crashed through the earthen wall with ease and began burning through the sand, leaving a trail of glass in its wake. The clone howled as it summoned another wave of sand to wash over the Bijūdama, slowing it and attempting to redirect it. Unfortunately it was fired from too close a range and the clone did not want to waste chakra unnecessarily. The attack bore through his torso, having only been redirected slightly, before tearing through the forest and exploding violently. The clone then dissolved into the sand that it had created, temporarily destroyed.
"Not half bad," Shu said as he started to walk towards Kurama. How about we have some fun though. How long has it been since you've stretched your legs? he messaged as the earth trembled beneath his feet. Shu had wrote it off as the shock from the Bijūdama, but then a giant earth catfish burst from the ground and swallowed Sio whole before racing off underground. "The fuck?!" The Hokage. Meddlesome bitch.
The pool of sand began to churn, growing, expanding rapidly before a much larger Shukaku clone took shape. This one roughly a third of his actual size. From its body several massive tentrils of sand bursts forth crashing into the earth around the catfish's general location. The oppressive nature of bijū chakra came as both a blessing and a curse, more so a curse than anything else. However, in this case, it made it much easier to track down Kurama despite him being out of sight. Though, it would be nice if he stopped toying around and broke himself free.
With all that going on Shu was not about to let the Hokage have any more of a respite than he already had. Taking in a deep breath he kneaded in an extra bit of chakra before firing off a barrage of wind bullets in his direction.

Sio barely had time to react before the giant catfish surged up from the earth and enclosed her in its large, gaping maw. She hadn't even seen what it was.
Kurama wasn't taking the capture well.
What just happened? Where are we? What is this? he roared, chakra surging. Sio had no answer for him, just as freaked out as the biju. They were encased in perfect darkness, and it was unsure if they were still on the battlefield at all, if they were moving, or what was going on. "We're underground! We're underground, Kurama!" Sio said, flailing a bit. The fox, not used at all to being underground, reacted the best way he knew how, and fired two small, powerful bijudama upward, in an attempt to break through wherever they were being held and see sunlight again.

The catfish was able to avoid the tendrils crashing into it, being that it wasn't very close to the surface of the ground. The purpose of the transport was to have Sio moved somewhat farther away from the battle, but it didn't get far before Kurama send two Bijūdama upward. The first broke through the catfish, effectively bringing it's movement to a halt. The second burst through the ground and tore up a tendril of sand that had been fishing for Sio.
Masahige grumbled, but there wasn't much he could do. With a newly reformed, larger Shukaku to deal with, Masahige was running out of options. Luckily, he didn't need to expend more chakra to deal with the the wind bullets coming at him. Shukaku had risen on one side of the wall, and Masahige quickly scaled down the other side. Of course, that meant the destruction of his wall. But the clone couldn't pinpoint his location as he scaled down the opposite side.
Of course rubble fell down, but Masahige cleared the wind bullets and the rubble, putting himself safely on the ground. Quickly followed by a string of hand seals. Which was then followed by his hands planting firmly on the ground.
"I've seen through your facade!" he shouted at the Bijūtsukai. "Though I do not agree with their goals, the Bijūtsukai would not subjugate a Bijū and use it the same way the villages do. You are not a Bijūtsukai, Shukaku!"
He raised his hands, causing an earthen structure to rise up behind the true Shukaku. There was no defined shape. It was just solid rock that rose above him. And it immediately changed form into tar as Masahige closed the gap between the two of them.
He needed to draw this to a close, and soon.

SARUTAHIKO NO SHUSHI Finger of Sarutahiko 土遁: 猿田彦の手指. S-RANKED. This method of manipulating the earth is for the most part forgotten. Instead, users manipulate the actual earth and not the energy of the earth. However, Banana learned from his sensei as a Genin about another form a Doton and as he grew, decided to research it ultimately coming up with this technique. Banana later taught this technique to Kusunoki Masahige.
This technique requires absolute chakra control and depending on what is being attempted huge reserves. So much chakra in fact that if an attempt is too ambitious, Masahige could die on the spot. After forming the needed handseals, a string of about thirteen seals, Masahige will slam his hand down onto the earth and flow his chakra down into the Dragon Veins, a flow of energy which govern the formation of mountains and earth. By influencing this energy, not the earth itself, Masahige is capable of performing near godly feats such as moving, or even flattening mountains. He can create valleys, giant craters or plateaus simply by manipulating this energy. This can even be used on a small scale to create small rocky landforms no larger than a man.

The ground rumbled each time one of the sand tendrils stabbed into the earth, attempting to hook the catfish and claim the nine tailed prize. Shu did not mind that so much as he minded the scale in which this was escalating. He had hoped this would be a bit more simple. Just, in-and-out like one of those drop offs B's lackeys tended to do. They were still a fair ways from any village, but help word would have gotten out that something was going on in the area. The ground shook more violently as Kurama blasted his way out of the earth, which made the clone's job much easier.
I don't see how you do that so much, Shukaku said to his brother. I believe the human term for someone like you is anorexic. After all, the Bijūdama was essentially a tailed beast upchucking chakra. Incredibly destructive and the cause of hundreds of deaths, sure. But at the end of the day, it was what it was.
The tendrils of sand then swept into the crater that Kurama had created in the attempt to capture the fox and bring him back to the battlefield. If successful, it would toss the fox and human hybrid into the air, like a piece of popcorn, and catch them in his titan sized mouth. Laughing all the while.
All the while Shu could not help but suck his teeth as the Hokage survived the fall from the earthen wall. Some part of him wished that in all that falling debris he would slip up and just face plant right then and there. From that distance he would leave a pretty impressive splatter. He would know, considering he had already researched what happened to the human body when exposed to falls from varying heights. That was a fun week. But no, the bitch survived yet again, just like a cockroach.
Then the Hokage made his declaration. Claiming him to be the fraud that he truly was, and the tanuki could not help but smirk. It was too funny to him.
"How quick you are to reach such faulty," clever, "Conclusions," he said to the Hokage. When he felt the earth tremble more violently near him Shu was prepared this time. What was coming this time? Another catfish? An earth dragon? A buddha? Stepping forward a little as the ground behind him erupted he glanced over his shoulder to see a giant earthen monolith. How uncreative, he thought to himself before it turned into tar. Nevermind, amended as he dashed towards Masahige in an attempt to get away from the oncoming sludge.
"What can I say? I'm a hypocrite. Gunsenkai1 usually are," Shu said as he extended his arms outwards and drawing closer to the Hokage. "Not even Ōjin-san has fought against a Bijū. I have," he said as he swiped his arms across his chest creating two powerful shockwaves that he hoped would smash the man like a bug. Of course, he might have done better to hold back on these a little. The collision of the two waves of force exploded violently when they made contact, knocking him across the wave of tar and back several yards. "I know their power. You're seeing it now," Shu continued as he picked himself up, discarding his tar covered jacket. He had hoped that this would have finally put the Hokage out of his misery, but he knew better than to continue thinking that. "I believe in the cause and I will do whatever is necessary," he announced as he scanned for Masahige.
