" I don't have wings-" " -so flying with me won't be easy..."
A powerful kunoichi. A Shinobigatana. A woman scarred.
Tsuyoki would eventually grow up to become all of these things and then some. Her beginnings were nothing as grandiose, however. Tsuyoki was born to a Chūnin mother and a Tokubetsu Jōnin father during the first War. Both were specialized taijutsu practitioners, though her father's greatest skill was in that of kenjutsu. Birthed three years into the War, Tsuyoki's father continued to be deployed into the field while his lesser-ranked wife was tasked with raising their little girl.
Life didn't pick up pace for Tsuyoki until she turned seven years of age. Before then, when she was about six and a half, her mother began to teach her about taijutsu and the many ways one could train their body. These lessons were made in addition to what Tsuyoki was taught in the village Academy, where she began to learn about "chakra" and its many uses. While Tsuyoki was by no means a bad student, her greatest area of expertise was that of taijutsu. It appeared she had inherited the physical prowess of her parents.
Five years after entering the academy, Tsuyoki passed the graduation exam and was promoted to Genin along with many of her classmates.
The entirety of the training in her genin years was spent practicing taijutsu with her mother and father, which was of course in addition to all of the missions and other training her sensei put her through. Because of this, Tsuyoki became the taijutsu specialist of the group, a quick, agile fighter that was also developing keen attention to details and the like. She also took up her father's use of the sword, while her mother taught her how to fight effectively unarmed.
Tsuyoki and her teammates trained hard for four long years, bettering their team work and their use of chakra. All of this paid off at the end of those four years when the Ch!nin Selection Exams rolled around and Kiri was allowed to participate.
In the end, Tsuyoki was promoted to Chūnin, her teammates being promoted the year after her. Now that she was older and more experienced, Tsuyoki's parents began to subject her to more harsh training methods. Whether it was sparring against one of them until she was bruised all over, or accomplishing physical tasks that quickly sapped any man's energy, or even weight lifting or training, Tsuyoki went through it all. All of this helped to increase her overall physical capabilities which were at this point being supplemented with her ninjutsu training.
By age seventeen, Tsuyoki had taken a personal liking to the use of kenjutsu, her father's specialty. He had once had the dream of becoming one of the village's elite swordsmen, one of the Shinobigatana, but had never been chosen for whatever reason. All of his skill in the art was passed on to his daughter through training. Her skill in the art caught the attention of an existing Shinobigatana member, the wielder of the broadsword Ishikiri Inju. While her skill in the area of kenjutsu was impressive, this man found her skill in ninjutsu to be lacking.
Once Tsuyoki was under Kai's wing, he began to teach her ninjutsu, which he was known for using in combination with his swordplay for greater effect. He also gave Tsuyoki a broadsword to train with to ready her to become Ishikiri Inju's eventual master. This relationship and training went on for four whole years until Kai died of a mysterious illness. When this happened, Tsuyoki was found to be more than capable of taking her former master's place and was thus given his blade, becoming the new wielder of the Stone-Cutting Ribbon. She found that she had even taken to Kai's style of combat, as he was a known expert in the use of Muon Satsujin, Silent Killing.
When Rin was twenty-two, war broke out among the nations once more in the Second Great War. Tsuyoki had been given a young promising apprentice, at least five years her junior, and in the beginning they were tasked with espionage-type missions, gathering information on the state of the warring nations. Tsuyoki found she was well-suited for such missions, as all that training through the years helped her to conceal herself and stay hidden.
Her apprentice, who appeared smitten with Tsuyoki constantly seeing her after tiring or grueling missions, began to develop a relationship with her. Tsuyoki was needless to say apprehensive about this, but slowly opened up to the boy and showed signs of returning his affection.
Unfortunately for Tsuyoki, it was a ploy.
This foolish young man was getting close to Tsuyoki in hopes of stealing his "master's" weapon and becoming a Shinobigatana in her place. Of course, to be successful, Tsuyoki had to be out of the picture so she could not reclaim her place. He made his attempt on her life in the field, at night, while he and Tsuyoki rested. Tsuyoki noticed that things seemed a little to quiet, especially given that she had someone with her, as she attempted to sleep, and thus stayed alert. This ended up saving her life when her apprentice tried to take hers. However, Tsuyoki had no choice but to slay the boy.
It all happened quickly, over in less than a minute. Such a sudden feeling of having to guard her life against someone she had grown so closed to scared Tsuyoki half to death and left her scarred for life. It took her time to "recover", but when she did, she wasn't the same person.
She knew it and she hated it. It was clear as day to her that she had trust issues with people, all caused by one stupid little boy who dreamed of having a little more power than he was ready to handle. Tsuyoki cursed herself for even letting it happened, but had her mother and father to help her deal with the emotional parts. Still, Tsuyoki was a shinobi and Kiri had since decided to jump into the war, killing all comers. Not long before its conclusion, Tsuyoki became an ANBU on top of already being one of the Seven Ninja Swordsman. More solo missions were given to her, a welcome change as she didn't have to depend on or worry about anyone but herself.
Kiri's bumbling manner of trying to ambush any side of a fight saw to it that Tsuyoki didn't become known for anything in particular, aside from her masterful use of the Soundless Murder.
The Second Great War has since ended and things have slowed down a little for Tsuyoki. When not out on missions or training, she can often be found alone somewhere, be it on a rooftop or in a tea house, quiet, thinking of times once passed.
If only that stupid boy hadn't ruined both their lives...
