War.
War is hell. And around the Nara clan, it's the one time that the large amount of incredibly lazy men in the clan don't get to be lazy. Before war, after war, during war, for the Nara it's all the same: planning, plotting, strategizing, training, teaching, examining, thinking, and desperately trying to ignore the clouds in the sky that so wish to be watched.
This is the household that Nara Rika grew up in.
She would have loved to have had the full attention of her parents growing up, but that just wasn't the case. The First War had ended relatively recently, and the political climate was hinting at a second war. Her father was constantly in a sleep-deprived state, coffee in his hand at all hours. Her brother was always on missions with his team, and her mother spent much time at the hospital, working there.
When Rika came of age, the Academy welcomed her with open arms.
And then war began.
They rushed Rika and her fellow classmates through the Academy, placed them all in training groups to bring them up to speed with the level of skill required for combat, and inducted them all into the shinobi corps as Genin. Rika fought in the war. Rika killed during the war. Rika lost comrades and friends in the war.
But she survived, and despite the psychological trauma, she was able to return to her family alive and well. Konaha was ahead of her, and her family welcomed her with open arms. She cried. They cried. All of them cried.
And now Rika is back as a Genin. In this settling, relatively hostile climate, who knows what will happen. All that this young Nara knows is that she never wishes to see another comrade fall.
Never again.
