[ RELATIONS ]
[ Haruka Hou ]Soku's father is a somewhat quiet, yet very caring individual. He is more introverted than out-going, tends to express himself well, and is quite loving; he has always supported his children and likes to feel he is a positive influence in their lives. He works hard, tries to teach his family a strong work ethic, and runs the family merchant store with a canny nose for business.
[ Haruka Yori ]Soku's mother is a more out-going, extroverted individual. She isn't afraid to approach new people, start conversations or speak her mind. In fact, she could even be seen as an intimidating woman, save for the fact she clearly is passionate rather than mean-spirited. Working alongside her husband, Yori offers a solid foundation for the family and the business.
[ Haruka Sakini ]Soku's sister is something of a spoiled brat. She is younger than her sibling, by several years, and has been brought up living on the financial success of the family business. Sakini remains the only family member able to wrap Yori around her little finger, and she will often get what she wants; and if not, she will resort to manipulation, blackmail or plain old tantrums. Soku doesn't really get along with his sister...
[ PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION ]
Soku is a short, thin young teenager. He has light gray, almost white, hair that is somewhat messy and hangs down around his eyes. His eyes are a dark gray, and he usually has dark shadows around them from tiredness. His usual expression is one of indifference, a genuine mask of impassiveness, and very rarely does he show emotion - rarely, but not unheard of.
For his clothing, Soku takes to wearing the standard outfit of any Hidden Cloud shinobi. This consists of a tan flak jacket, a long-sleeve shirt, dark pants, dark shinobi boots, as well as a belt with several pouches.
[ MENTALITY ]
Soku is something of a mystery, even to his parents. He is very introverted, very rarely starting conversations or introducing himself to new people. First impressions usually result in his being labeled as creepy, or abnormal. Yet, even though he might seem detached, or cold, Soku is still prone to exhibiting random acts of kindness, typically as nothing more than a hobby, or just to try and maintain a presence of normalcy.
While not having a pessimistic attitude, per se, Soku isn't prone to seeing the silver lining or being overly optimistic. He would be more accurately described as a realist, and knows that things don't generally work out how they're planned. Instead, Soku accepts the world for what it is, namely a series of events over which he has very little control - he will do what he can, when he can, but sometimes things just happen how they will.
He’s also something of a hypocrite; he disdains the rich, though his parents are independently wealthy due to their family business, despite being raised with a silver spoon in his mouth - yet, it’s more an act of rebellion then anything else. He hates how his sister has grown, acting as though she is entitled to anything she wants, and as such their relationship is strained at best.
Soku appreciates what his parents do for him, and knows that they support his wish to become a shinobi, even if they aren't overly fond of his Jutsu development. As such, both parents are secretly concerned for their son, questioning some of his experiments and his long hours spent isolated practicing his arts...
[ BIOGRAPHY ]
Born to a somewhat successful merchant family, Soku was introduced into a comfortable level of wealth from a very early age. He was dotted upon by his mother, having her spend every waking moment with her child, and despite this affection Soku felt uncomfortable and began to emotionally detach - much to his mother's annoyance. Yet, his father treated the boy like a young man, letting Soku learn his own way and offering advice when it was needed or asked for.
By the age of six, Soku had displayed his potential for becoming a shinobi, despite only a handful of them being known of in earlier Haruka generations. After initial testing he was accepted into the Academy, placed into a class and taught the basics of the ninja arts. He proved a capable stupid, slightly above-average but by no means the best.
His emotional distance from his classmates led to his being treated like an outcast, made fun of and bullied to a degree. But, when the kids saw that Soku didn't care, they sought out new prey and moved on, largely leaving him alone.
For the next several years, Soku learned the shinobi lessons and improved his abilities. While he was small for his age, and not overly strong, he was stubborn and durable; in fact, he was able to keep pushing himself where others might quit out of exhaustion. He proved very capable with kunai, having a very precise aim throughout his training and lessons. He also showed an aptitude with Fūinjutsu, though his teachers were somewhat reluctant to willingly support or approve his method of use...
Half-way through his Academy stay Soku's sister was born, and she brought a new level of annoyance to the young boy. She was spoiled, demanded everything for herself, and was the epitome of a little rich princess; and what made matters worse was that Soku's parents willingly encouraged her behavior, by enabling her attitude and giving in to what she wanted.
Soku wasn't impressed.
Nonetheless, life continued, even if Soku tended to avoid his mother and sister, and by the age of twelve he graduated the Academy to become a Genin. Even though he was in the middle of the class, in terms of grades, it seemed that his abilities with Fūinjutsu hadn't gone unnoticed.
Soku made a living working for the family business, while completing simple missions for the village and training. He was very skilled at pulling weeds, chasing down pets and securing rubbish on the streets. While it wasn't the most enthralling time of his life, Soku tried to make the best of it and found the opportunity to practice his Fūinjutsu during the free-time he often had. Not long after his thirteenth birthday, Soku was presented before a Jōnin, Kaito, whom wanted to form a team of Genin.
Despite being the last in the interview line, Soku decided that his options weren't exactly blooming, and having grown sick of mediocre missions, he accepted and signed his registration forms hoping to start doing something a little more exciting as a shinobi...
