As far as what I'm seeing in the manga now it simply looks like a large set of divisions with a large quantity of people in them. Even the ambush squad looked kind of large(in my opinion). Yet, from what I saw when the Third Shinobi War(not sure if it counts seeing as the majority of it was in Kakkashi Gaiden) they were in a 4-man cell.
So basically, my question is, how were the formations in the Second Shinobi War here? Like the Fourth, having a bigger set of people in a few squads, or were there 4-man cells? Mainly why I ask this is to figure out how the battles for the war for the sake of not putting ridiculous information in character bio's.

they probably would've been smaller since the 4th shinobi war is an alliance of all the shinobi countries meaning they would have more ninja resulting in larger divisions

I'd imagine it would depend on the purpose of the unit and their missions. Battle groups would obviously be larger while scouting parties and ambush units would consist of smaller groups. That's even how it operates in the manga. Kankurō's team only consisted of seven people while Kakashi's division is much larger.

Ah I see. Thanks for the input guys. I have a better idea of things now. I kind of forgot that in the manga it's a entire Alliance rather than one villages efforts.
