The Namiheki is a large blue blade [6 foot one inch in length, including handle] that has a large spike on the upper-end of the cutting edge. Like the other Shinobigatana weapons, the sword possesses a unique power; this being its ability to reform itself using metal particulates found in multiple sources [such as blood, water and/or limited parts of the ground]. This regenerative process takes place almost instantly, and is capable of bringing the weapon back to its original perfect condition no matter how severe the damage is, from a simple chip, or nick, to a completely missing portion of blade.

[ Sword Proficiency ]
From years of sword training, among other shinobi training, Sotoumi is able to wield his six-foot long sword with a high degree of proficiency; he is capable of wielding the weapon one-handed, swinging it with relative ease and speed, as well as being able to avoid becoming fatigued with its use and transportation.
[ Advanced Suiton Control ]
Because of his clan heritage, and their near-focus on water-based Jutsu, Sotoumi has developed a keen control for suiton Jutsu, being able to come very close, if not precisely, to achieving the chakra requirement so as to not waste his reserves.
[ Keniwahou ] [Power Rotation Style]
From his years spent both training with a heavy sword and being a Shinobigatana, Sotoumi has developed a style that utilizes powerful, circular sword swings combined with sudden kicks and punches. The style - ambidextrous in nature - works under the principal of allowing fluid motion in continuing spinning arcs, using a mixture of power and momentum to cleave through enemies and their defenses; and in the instances where both he and his blade are rotating [facing away from an opponent], Sotoumi can combine strong kicks or punches in their direction to keep his foes off-guard or defensive.
The rotating swings are able to be used one-handed, or two-handed; and in the case of the former, allows Sotoumi to switch hands to suddenly alter the swords direction or arc, by utilizing a passive burst-variation of his Great Water Arm hiden - the usage being high enough to give him the counter-pulling power, but low enough to be considered minuscule to his moisture use due to familiarity and training in that specific use of the jutsu/sword style. This allows him to surprise his opponent, resulting in reverse, upper or lower swings when it would otherwise appear that the blade was following a set rotational direction - this can allow him to confuse enemies who are good at predicting combat movement.
When used in conjunction with his sword proficiency, and his regenerating weapon, the result is a powerful, fast and accurate sword style capable of cleaving through considerably durable objects and/or people, with single swings being capable of slicing through stone or certain weaker metal weapons or items [like thin blades or simple metal plated armor].
[ Physical Hydration ]
The Hōzuki clan seem to require constant hydration, which allows them to make use of their Hiden at will. Because of this increased reliance on water to keep his body hydrated, Sotoumi must drink water up to a dozen times a day, or directly after intense physical activity, to maintain healthy moisture levels in his body. If not, he will be unable to use his Hiden effectively, as well as potentially making it that he will begin to suffer negative physical effects, such as dizziness, severe dehydration and potentially unconsciousness.
This reliance doubles in dry environments, such as the desert.

[ Suika no Jutsu ] [Hydration Technique] [ Hiden - Supplementary ]
By liquefying the whole body at will, this technique makes it impossible to receive damage from physical attacks. From a single hair to the skin and muscles, everything can be liquefied and solidified at will. Be it to evade an enemy's attack during a short range battle, to infiltrate a structure, or to launch a surprise attack in a liquefied state, this technique boasts a high strategic value. Using this, the user can also re-shape their body parts for suitable situations. The only way to contain a user of this technique is to lock them up in an airtight container so they cannot move about. When the user passes out, they turn into a jelly-like state.
As this technique turns the body into water, the user is vulnerable to lightning techniques. For example, when imbued with electricity, the user will not be able to liquidize properly.
[ Suiton: Masakana Namihakai no Jutsu ] [Water Release: Demon Fish Wave Crash] [ Hiden - Offensive/Defensive ]
After using his Hydration Technique to merge with a water source, Sotoumi can form a giant wave that looks like a demon-like fish. Sotoumi can use this form to crash into his opponents, or he can use it to shield allies from attack. The Jutsu is capable of withstanding considerably strong attacks, though the water form will eventually decrease in potency as it suffers more damage; also, given the user is merged with the water form, if it suffers a considerable amount of damage in a single attack, resulting in the form being broken, it can result in the user being rendered unconscious, in a jelly-like state.

By putting the Hydration Technique into practical use, the muscles of the arm are temporarily enlarged and strengthened. Moisture is gathered from the whole body and compressed into the entire arm, like an instant pump-up. However, because it is essential to properly control the moisture balance inside the body, this technique's degree of difficulty is very high. The technique gives the user superhuman strength, capable of cutting through both rock walls and steel doors.
This is the only known Hiden that has a rank.
[ Jutsu ]
[ Sairento Kiringu ] [Silent Killing] [ General Skill ]
As the name suggests, this technique is simply a very quiet method of killing an opponent, usually from behind with a blade. Additionally, because the user is very silent, it cannot be defended against. The user will often slit their opponent's throat, preventing any cry that might give them away. The Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist are said to be masters of this technique, and were even good enough to track and kill opponents through sound alone.
[ Kirigakure no Jutsu ] [Hidden Mist Technique] [ Rank D ]
This displacement technique is a specialty of the Ninja from Kirigakure, where one causes a mist to spring forth by lifting up some water, then goes in and out of sight at will from within the pearly-white realm. The mist's thickness is controlled by the amount of chakra kneaded into it. It can't fool the Byakugan, but, due to the mist being created with the user's chakra, any Sharingan-user will see the mist colored by their opponent's chakra, which will effectively hide the user from the dōjutsu.
[ Oyogukōiusame ] [To Swim Like A Shark] [ Rank D ]
An advanced variation of the Suimen Hokō no Gyō technique. As an essential skill for Kirigakure shinobi, it is taught from an early age. By taking the same principle of using chakra as a repellent force as in Suimen Hokō no Gyō, a user will be able to "skate" across the water at varying speeds, depending on the amount of chakra used.
Another application of this technique is its use while underwater. By using their chakra as a repellent to the water with their feet as well as their hands they will be able to move through the water with greater fluidity. Highly skilled Chūnin and Jōnin are able to swim through the water with the mobility of a shark.
[ Enkai Kisoku ] [Deep Sea Breathing] [ Rank D ]
A fundamental skill required for all Kirigakure shinobi to learn, and as such it is taught early in the Academy. The training starts off with breathing exercises that strengthen the lungs and allow them to retain more oxygen. The following step is to implement the use of chakra to ration the amount of oxygen in the body to allow for extended periods under the water.
Because of the nature of the training it takes years to fully make use of this technique, and even longer to actually master. Skilled Chūnin and Jōnin are able to hold their breath for periods ranging from ten to fifteen minutes. The longest known use of this skill was just over twenty minutes.

A ninjutsu technique using the water element. After performing the hand signs the ninja can spit a ball of water out of his mouth to crush a target. The size of the ball depends on the amount of chakra used.
[ Suishime no Jutsu ] [Water Binding Technique] [ Rank C ]
A technique that uses the water element. Using a nearby source of water the user will manipulate it into taking the form of a rope, which is then used the bind the target. The strength of the binding rivals steel and leaves the target susceptible to lightning based attacks.
[ Mizu Bunshin no Jutsu ] [Art of the Water Clone] [ Rank C ]
A Ninjutsu technique that utilizes water to create a Bunshin clone. Unlike a normal Bunshin, the Mizu Bunshin has the ability to interact more with the environment due to it having physical substance. This allows the clone to carry out limited attacks on its target. The range of the clone is limited however, it can not travel very far from the original body. If the Mizu Bunshin is injured, the clone will usually revert back into its natural water state.

A Ninjutsu technique that utilizes water to imprison an opponent. The ninja forms the necessary hand seals which causes the water to form around the target into a spherical prison which only allows for limited movement. The ninja must keep their body touching the water prison to maintain its existence. If the contact is broken, the water falls away and their target is released. When combined with a bunshin technique, the ninja can imprison their target but still allow for a clone to attack others nearby.

A jutsu that allows Sotoumi to channel, spatially recompose and send a sharp, solid spear of water, complete with a 'solid water rope' at an enemy from within his long sleeve/s to an effective range of about fifteen [15] feet. The water point is so fine, it is capable of piercing stone. Once a target is impaled, Sotoumi is then capable of using his hand and arm as a catalyst to maintain the physical representation of a liquid prong and rope, allowing him to physically pull his opponent toward him - alternatively, he can release the control over the water and let it liquefy to a natural state, without drawing the enemy closer. Also, on the off chance that Sotoumi throws his sword, he is able to use this jutsu to catch the blade and pull it back to him.
Due to his familiarity, as well as the surprise-attack nature of this jutsu, Sotoumi is able to unleash it at close range with rapid speed; as such, it requires minimal hand seals and can be released at the enemy suddenly at close ranges.
[ Hito'samesode ] [Hidden Shark Sleeve] [ Rank C ]
A jutsu that allows the user to eject several sharks from their wrist or sleeve, usually after a punching motion. The sharks are several feet in length, and used primarily to attack from a distance and, being sharks, can inflict multiple grievous bite wounds on the victim's body or hold them in place.
This jutsu can be classified as a variation of the Summoning Technique.
[ Yousuiro no Jutsu ] [Irrigation Channel Technique] [ Rank B ]
A Suiton technique that requires the user to perform the needed hand seals and slam their hands on the ground. Through the use of their chakra they are able to reach the moisture residing in the nearby plants and trapped under the ground. Next, the amount of water is increased exponentially and drawn to the surface. The scale of this technique is heavily dependent on the amount of chakra used.
[ Suiton: Bakusui Shōha ] [Water Release: Exploding Water Colliding Wave] [ Rank B ]
Has the user spit out a great volume of water from their mouth, swallowing up and crushing the enemy with the advancing surge. The user can ride the wave, allowing them to move at high speed, and attack the enemy, now swept off their feet, without fear of counter-attacks. The amount of water created is proportional to the amount of chakra used. Afterward, the excess water can be used for additional water release jutsu.
[ Mizuzeme no Jutsu ] [Water Torture Technique] [ Rank B ]
A genjutsu taught to Kirigakure ANBU within the interrogation division. Once under the jutsu the victim finds themselves bolted to a cold, steel table. The room is dark, save for the bright lamp shining on the ceiling. Slowly, drops of water repeatedly fall onto their forehead. While seemingly ineffectual at first should the victim be exposed for extended periods of time then they will gradually slip into insanity. Due to the binding in the genjutsu the victims will be immobile, but free to talk and hear others around them.
[ Oborejinu no Jutsu ] [Drowning Technique] [ Rank B ]
A genjutsu taught to Kirigakure ANBU that causes its victims to see themselves underwater with weights tied to his hands and feet. Because of the weights the victim will not be able to move their limbs, and all the while suffer through the feeling of drowning. Also, while under the effects of this genjutsu the victim is immobile and becomes highly vulnerable to any type of attack.
[ Mizu Yari ] [Water Spears] [ Rank B ]
The user creates a series of floating water balls, ranging in size depending on the users choice - from mere inches, to multiple feet in radius - using nearby water reserves. Controlling these floating water masses, the user is able to send them through the air rapidly, focusing on a point in the water, which results in the creation of a spear-like projectile. This water spear has enough force to puncture stone, and once it makes contact will disperse into a splash following the initial impact.
[ Hoojirozame Mori ] [Great White Harpoon] [ Rank B ]
The user creates a large water blast, like a floating river moving along tube, with the end of the water resembling a Great White shark head [complete with open jaws and teeth]. The torrent of water rapidly approaches a target, aiming at engulfing them, with the shark head biting down with considerable force to inflict severe damage. Once within the water tube, the victim is dunked and unable to use any solid mass to correct themselves; this results in them either holding their breath long enough to reach the end of the water flow and be thrown to the ground, succumb to their wounds from the water shark bite, or drown.
The size of this circular blast of water is dependent on chakra amount used, with the typical radius being around eight feet and having a length of about thirty feet. Sotoumi is also able to summon his sharks into this mass, allowing them to swim with the flow of water, further attacking victims within.
[ Kuchiyose: Raikō Kenka ] [ Summoning: Lightning Blade Creation ] [ Rank B ]
This is a special 'ninja tool summon' that allows the user to seal ninja tools like swords or kunai into a scroll or their clothes beforehand, allowing them to be called upon when needed. The ninja tools can be summoned in an instant just by touching the sealing 'marks' which can be drawn anywhere. The greatest advantage of this technique is that the time between taking out a ninja tool, taking the right stance and actually throwing it is greatly reduced. Also when a weapon such as a Fūma Shuriken is summoned, the time needed to throw it can be further shortened by having prepared the weapon in fully extended form beforehand.
The ninja tools are thrown with the actual speed of a 'flash of lightning', ruining the opponent's outset of the battle, and snatching away the initiative. Furthermore, because the summoned ninja tools can remain hidden until right before they are used, if this technique is mastered, there are an exceptional number of possible tactics.
[ Suiton: Hasai Suihappa ] [Water Release: Crushing Water-blast] [ Rank B ]
A jutsu that allows Sotoumi to expel a high pressure, high impact blast of water from the length of his arm - typically appearing like a sudden burst of water from within his long sleeve/s, to roughly an effective range of ten [10] feet. With the assistance of spatial recomposition, the water has increased mass and brute force, being capable of leaving small craters in solid stone.
Due to his familiarity, as well as the surprise-attack nature of this jutsu, Sotoumi is able to unleash it at close range with rapid speed; as such, it requires minimal hand seals and can be released at the enemy suddenly at close ranges.
[ Suihazure ] [Water Extremity] [ Rank B ]
A jutsu that allows Sotoumi to channel, spatially recompose and spread masses of water around his arms and legs - or more specifically, his hands and feet. The effect is something of a larger, liquid-mass version of his fist or foot, allowing Sotoumi to deliver greater attack damage due to the additional mass on an extremity. Due to the increased physical mass of the liquid, and offering a thick protective layer around hands and/or feet, these shapes can also help deflect or block certain attacks.
[ Suiton: Daibakufu no Jutsu ] [Water Release: Great Waterfall Technique] [ Rank A ]
A technique that extends water over a large scale, surges and rises up to several dozen meters high. Then it streams down to the ground in one big cascade, much like a gigantic waterfall. In doing so, it resembles a huge wave, with tremendous power that can hollow out the ground. What remains after that jutsu's utilization is reminiscent of no less than the aftermath of a natural disaster. This is a considerably advanced ninjutsu, and activating this technique requires a fair share of chakra.
[ Summon ]
Kuchiyose no Jutsu [Summoning Technique] [ Rank C ]
A Summoning Technique is a space-time jutsu that allows the summoner to transport animals across long distances instantly. With the use of a scroll and blood summoning, Sotoumi's contract allows him to summon various sized sharks to assist him - he typically uses Great Whites.
The sizes of the summoned creatures can range from mere feet or up to a dozen feet in length. These sharks require water to function as effective summons, being unable to survive out of water - however, due to their ninja heritage, the Great Whites are capable of adapting their bodies to submerge in any water environment [and are not restricted to specifically salt water].
The sharks are also capable of using chakra to manipulate water reserves, either nearby or by bringing their own when summoned - as naturally they are swimming, so a mass of water proceeds the sharks if one isn't readily available [at which point the sharks water mixes with whatever water is present - such as Sotoumi's area effecting water jutsu].
