Her parents were both acceptably skilled shinobi; her mother more so. A tag team of Taijutsu-talented youngsters they were, and of course, their partnership had quickly budded into love. Before the village knew, the couple was wed with a child following just more than a half year later.
June 30th was her birthday. She has always remembered this, mainly due to the patch of yellow cups that blossomed for the summer precisely on that day. Her father tells her that it was her birth that caused them to blossom.
"Big plans for the future" and "heiress to the Sand's knuckle dusters" flooded the air through Kikka's toddlerhood, though the world of shinobi would still be a neighboring alien to her comprehension. With her mind being the only one in the family's to be fixated on the present, it seemed, she would go about playing with the other children while her parents practically hand picked her destiny.
Kikka's fourth birthday party marked the day that would foil her from her parents' expectations, as she received the big book of shinobi (authored by her mother, of course) that would ease the girl into the Academy's studies early on. A detailed thirty pages of the text revolved around different fighting styles and weak points in the human body, but this was of little interest or comprehension of Kikka. No, her eye drew about a different section: Ninjutsu.
Chakra was beginning to become a bit more easily understood at the age of six, as her still molding mind had found its focal point of interest. The life of an Iryo-nin, which she had begun to fantasize about becoming at her young age. To be a helpful nurse as well as a deadly warrior enticed wishful excitement in Kikka, though she would have to put in a great amount of practice to match her own expectations. To make things worse, her parents were still believing that she would favor Taijutsu. She didn't dislike the art; Ninjutsu just seemed more toward Kikka's favor.
Admitted into the Academy at seven, Kikka was determined to get a hands on experience with chakra. However, her mindset shifted from the sheer amount of difficulty she had with using it. Paranoia set its base when she believed it was due to having Taijutsu oriented parents, though after a reassuring explanation, she would learn about everyone's natural affinity toward certain fields of jutsu. Despite not knowing whether she was compatible with chakra as well as the other students, Kikka remained positive and continued at it.
At ages eleven and twelve, she found her majors to be balanced between Ninjutsu and Genjutsu, though her Taijutsu lacked severely. Her teachers praised her for her skill and knowledge of chakra, though her parents saw the situation as her failing the Academy. This lead to "the talk", the three hours of discussing with the two hot heads about Kikka's choice of interest. Strange as it seemed then, her parents were thrilled to have a chakra majoring daughter, and approved of her decision. The newfound sense of confidence that flooded the girl's mind guided her to graduate, becoming a full-fledged shinobi.
Her Genin squad would be known as the aid team during the war, as each possessed supportive abilities. (Kikka's medical knowledge, Nemui's Genjutsu, Bangai's sensing abilities). As Kikka aged on the team, completing each mission with at least moderate success, her need for a tutor became obvious to her sensei. He managed to find one of the very few Iryo-nin willing to teach her, a woman by the name of Yangu-Baba. Her contradicting name was due to her youthful appearance coupling with her impressive age. A strict and unforgiving teacher, she made sure to express the severity of perfect chakra control that goes into Medical Ninjutsu, and how single mistakes can be fatal. The girl, young and adventurous at the time, saw the threat as a challenge, and continued with the lessons.
Unfortunately, her desires and actual skills seemed to be perpendicular to one another, though she never quit. Yangu-baba, impressed by Kikka's determination, thought that her teachings weren't strict enough, forcing the old woman to push Kikka even harder. Strange as it sounded, the Genin excelled under the stressful training. Her use in the medical arts improved by leaps and bounds, not to mention her great chakra control. With a few more years of practice, Kikka managed to be able to use Medical Ninjutsu in mid combat through countless of random situations. With her dream skill mastered, the girl began completing war related missions with a far greater amount of perfection, totaling her mission count to around 54 at age fifteen.
The war ended when she turned seventeen, and her efforts in the battle earned her the rank of Chuunin (reaching the same rank as her father). This moment of joy was short lived after receiving word of Young-Babar's death in battle. After learning of the woman's death, Kikka found that her old mentor had hoped to become head of Synagogue's medical division. She took up the old woman's dream, using the inspiration of achieving the position to aid her strength in her part in repairing the village.
