Gensei Taigou is often characterized by his withdrawn and often strict personality. Because of his reluctance to socialize, Taigou appears to have a dejected state of mind-- Often seen as loneliness or depression. These misconceptions are purely noted as such, as he is without frown or smile and speaks his opinions and thoughts without the concept of emotion swaying his thoughts as decisions with the exception of anger brought on by a Samurai-esque pride. Despite this ambivalent mentality, Taigou is prideful and highly arrogant when his martial prowess is questioned.
» Biography. «
This world is beleaguered by war. Driven by those who seek to conquer or desire death in their malevolent wake. Peace is a fleeting concept created by the besieged in order to give hope, but only fuel the fires of war and carnage. For even as wars die, conflict rises in the silence. Villages clash, men train to harden themselves for combat, and clans collide. Humanity is a fickle and persistent race that knows only destruction. It is because of that nature that the weak suffer and die and the world is once more immersed into chaos.
Far in the northern mountains where one would think was free of war raged one such between two clans of Samurai. Champions clashed in the frigid wastes. Bad blood flowed through the mountains, filled with great warriors. The Taigou and the Tiānren paralleled. Steeped in prideful tradition and an unwillingness to surrender to the opposing faction, years lapsed and neither gained way. Despite the generation to generation long war, both clans found time to send their most prodigious Samurai to aid the defenses of Tetsu no Kumi.
Gensei was twenty four when the leader of Taigou, his father, left the village to serve in the military for the defense of Tetsu no Kuni. Gensei never understood what defense was needed. No ninja invaded, and those who did were struck down before they got too far. Mostly refugees from broken villages lost to the chaos outside still blood thirsty, seeking land of their own. It was a cruel but necessary service his father assured him.
In his father's steed he became the head of Taigou. Going on to lead several successful missions against the Tiānren, who grew gradually desperate each loss. With the Taigou offensively pushing them out of the mountains, they had begun funneling sympathizers into the conflict. Minor villages never known to fight were pulled into the little clan war, forming an overwhelming force in comparison to the Taigou. The coming years proved to deaden the momentum Gensei had fought hard to make. Under constant siege and dwindling to the edge of extinction, Gensei retreated and strategized while Tiānren marched toward Fuyuzora no Sato.
Gensei had created a bold plan to end the war where his ancestors had failed to so many generations before. Ordering the fortification of Winter Sky, Tsukinowaguma Taigou would lead a small group of Samurai around the main Tianren army. From there, moving into their village where Tsukinowaguma would assassinate the standing leader. Gensei had every civillian evacuate into the snow-covered forests surrounding, while the small military force weathered Tianren's relentless assault. Winter Sky became the diversion in contrast to when it had been defended before. The Tianren leader would not expect a coup.
It was month before news reached Winter Sky of Tianren's fallen leadership. Many men had needlessly died to make that plan work. Gensei had killed seventy two before it was over, not counting the many wounded left out in the field after each push. Taigou seemed more diminished than ever despite their victory. A heroes welcome became mourning as family and friends were buried, the horrors of battle seen for what they really were. Gensei found no glory or honor in the loss of his men, or the defeat of his enemy. It opened his eyes to what his father had fought to avoid.
Sometime after the war Gensei found that his father had died of an illness. Another tragedy he held with great regard and mourning. More so, he felt a growing dislike for Tetsu no Kuni. No, for all the lands and their insatiable need for military dominance. Diversity bred conflict and conflict bred death. It was only a matter of time before Tetsu no Kuni would seek blood for itself, or until the Ninja brought death to them.
Gensei Taigou swore then that he would never allow such atrocities to come and began rebuilding Winter Sky. The world would know Justice. Gensei would unite the lands-- through the power of the Taigou-- through the fall of many leaders.
