Shizuka is a calm, peaceful individual. He has a strong dislike for violence, and won't fight unless absolutely necessary or provoked. He's got a bit of a temper, which can throw all of his peaceful talk out the window. He usually tries to resist getting worked up, but sometimes he just can't help himself.
Shizuka is also very laid back, which can sometimes turn into laziness. He doesn't like to do work, although he will get it done if he has to. He can get lost in his thoughts, turning him into an oblivious person every once in a while as well. He's also a very "go with the flow" type person; he doesn't really think things out before he does them, but rather ends up where he ends up.
Shizuka is very sociable, and loves to hang out with friends and/or family. He's a kind and caring person, and would hate to leave anyone in need. He's also very emotional, and openly shows it. However, this sensitivity can sometimes lead to him being a crybaby.
BIOGRAPHY:
Growing up was difficult for a young Shizuka Kihaku and his family in Konoha. Around the time of his birth, Shizuka's father had to depart for the First Shinobi War. This left him and his ten year old sister in the care of their mother, who did the best that she could to stay afloat. Supporting two children was hard, but somehow she managed to do it. She worked two jobs, leaving Shizuka in the care of his older sister most of the time. Due to all the time he spent around women, Shizuka grew up a little more sensitive and calm that most boys his age.
While Shizuka was nine years old, the first war ended. Excited to finally be able to meet his father, Shizuka and his family waited for his father's platoon to return to the village. However, there was only one survivor from his father's squad, who gave Shizuka's mother her husband's Hitai-ate. He then informed them that Shizuka's father had been killed during a large battle, and before he died he wanted to make sure that his family received his Hitai-ate.
It was a tearful day for Shizuka and his family, but they would survive and become a much tighter family. About a year after his death, when Shizuka was ten, he decided that he wanted to enter the academy. His mother was a little hesitant about letting her little boy become a shinobi, as she was afraid that he would meet the same fate as his father. However, he was eventually able to convince her that he would be a great, helpful shinobi, and she allowed him to enter the academy.
Shizuka was an average student, acceding in ninjutsu. He managed to graduate from the academy in four years, leaving at fourteen years of age. He was assigned to a three man Genin Cell, where his skills were further improved upon. His ninjutsu would increase further, and he would learn that he was also special with a sword. He would practice with these two abilities until the Chunin Exams came around, which would be hosted in his own village.
On the day of the exams, Shizuka stayed calm and relaxed when he met up with his team. He was determined to become a Chunin, deciding that this would be a time where he would have to use violence. He passed the written portion of the test, and he and his team navigated through the Forest of Death with ease. During the tournament part of the exams, he would make it up to the semi-finals before he was finally knocked out. However, due to the skill, strength, and determination, he was promoted to Chunin.
Once he was promoted, Shizuka sought out his sensei. He decided he wanted to figure out what his nature affinity was, so his sensei tested him. The chakra paper that was used to test for chakra nature turned wet and damp when Shizuka held it. This showed him and his sensei his Suiton affinity, which Shizuka would practice with for ten years. During this time, he would find ways to combine his Kenjutsu and Ninjutsu to make him a deadly shinobi. He would go on missions during this time with his new strength, and would help the village through these missions.
While Shizuka was twenty-four, the Second Shinobi War had started. He was forced onto the battlefield, which was what his mother was afraid of all along. He ensured her and his older sister that he'd return home safely, and soon departed for the front lines of war. War was tough to Shizuka, but he always kept an upbeat attitude in order to keep his spirits high. However, not everyday could be a happy day.
One night, Shizuka was about to fall asleep when his squad was ambushed. They managed to fight them off, but Shizuka got a serious gash in his arm, and one of their squad mates was killed. The Iryonin on the team managed to heal Shizuka and wrap his arm up, but his teammate was lost. This was one of the few times when Shizuka lost his temper, as he chased after the ninja who did it and brutally murdered them.
After the incident, Shizuka kept the medical wrap around his arm as a constant reminder of what happened that night, and to never lose himself like that again. However, he did start to become a little bit more violent on the battlefield. He would start to kill more enemies, and would end up killing many squad leaders as well. Although he was only a solider, he was one of the best and flawless on the field. Many of the Konoha shinobi in the war knew his name.
He was promoted to general a few years into the war, as his efforts and skills had been above average grunts. As a General, he managed to go above and beyond the call of duty, not only leading his battalion to many victories, but achieving a few feats of his own. He managed to find a large war prison in Iwa lands, and with the help of his battalion managed to enter the prison and destroy it, freeing a large portion of Konoha's forces.
A few months after that, he lost a large portion of his battalion (3 quarters) to a surprise sneak attack during the night by Iwa. They were at an extremely strategic and important base, so they had to defend the position until reinforcements could arrive in the morning. With Shizuka as general, he and the few shinobi left managed to survive, with Shizuka fending off the most enemy ninja with his wide arsenal of jutsu and his sword.
The last memorable thing he managed to do was a few months before the war was over. In an almost all or nothing effort, Suna sent a majority of their forces to a different base of Konoha's. This base held the majority of Konoha's tactical information, and Shizuka and some of his men were on guard that day. They were outnumbered, but Shizuka's men managed to defend the base while Shizuka went after the general. It was close, but Shizuka managed to kill the general and his bodyguards, leaving nobody to direct Suna's forces for that day. This allowed Shizuka and his men to drive them off with ease.
Eventually the war was over. He came home to an ecstatic family, who were extremely glad to see that Shizuka hadn't met the same fate as his father. During the next year, Shizuka would help the village in any way possible. He would go on missions that benefited, and was an academy instructor for a short period of time. He would also continue to hone his skills, and would decide to specialize in Suiton. He became extremely efficient with his natural element, increasing his skills further than before.
Shortly after he turned thirty, he was promoted to Jonin for his skills, and his above and beyond efforts during the war. Now, at thirty, Shizuka opted to train a team of Genin, as going on missions would be "too much work".[/size]
