Years ago, specifically his third year in the academy, is where Minato had been reflecting on all day as he flipped through the photo book that his mom pieced together of all his life and his achievements. A big smile adorned his face, this was a time in his life that he was especially proud about.
Flipping through the pages, he came across an old picture of himself and Hikaru back when they first really introduced with one another. He could see the excitement in each of their eyes. "Arraaa--!" he exclaimed, "That day was awesome!" He laughed as he began to look at the rest of he photos.
The room was silent. At the front of the class was a long, brunette haired kunoichi who was instructing her room of students. Today was a pivotal day for this lot, they'd be given their assignment that would help assess their skills and conductive reasoning that they should've developed for the year.
"Okay you guys," the Chūnin beckoned for their attention with a smile. Stepping to the side of the whiteboard where she wrote the list of names for the assignment she was about to give them.
"Today you all will be simulating a real mission!" she started, before before she could give further details a gale of excitement rushed through the room as the dozens of students exclaimed. "Each of you all will be put into pairs with another student, and then assigned a specific mission. Your objective is to work with your partner and complete your assigned objective."
Looking out into the sea of youthful faces, she spotted one, or rather, didn't spot one, that she was suppose to. Walking up stairs through the rows of students, giggles and snickers sounded off around the room as Akemi-sensei made her way over to the desk of one particular yellow haired student. "Minato-kun!" she spoke in an elevated tone, breaking the boys concentration away from the doodle he was drawing.
"It'd be in your best benefit to be listening to me while I'm briefing you on your assignment. You're in the academy to learn the Code of Conduct and to be taught how to become an efficient shonobi of Konohagakure, not to doodle."
"Uh..." he mumbled, looking up with wide smile of embarrassment. "Sorry Akemi-sensei, it's my birthday and I wanted to finish drawing my invitations for my party so I could give them to everyone."
Seeing the truth in his eyes, there was no way that she could take away his drawing. It was his birthday after all, and he is the grandson of the Hokage. "Okay then. Jut put them away for now, you have an assignment to complete." Smiling, she'd let him off the hook this time. "That goes for all of you too. Now go check the board and see who will be paired with."
