Iwagakure (岩隠れの里 Literally meaning "Village Hidden by Rocks") located in Tsuchi no Kuni, is one of the Great Shinobi Villages and among the Five major superpowers of the world. Known for their speciality in Earth based techniques, rock hard attitude, and powerful shinobi, Iwagakure maintains a legacy of military might and a “Will of Stone” significant to keep the other nations in check. Though often seen as underhanded and perpetual antagonists given their history in the previous shinobi wars, the citizens of Iwagakure hold themselves to a strict code of honor and loyalty inspired by their forebears, making them a feared fighting force even in the current era of peace.
Iwagakure has significance within the reign of the Ninja Superpowers for having two tailed beasts, whereas their closest neighbor Sunagakure and long time rival Konohagakure manage only one respectively. Though while the other villages have adopted to treating the Tailed Beasts and their vessels with kindness and respect, the shift has not been so dramatic for those of Hidden Rock, who borderline regarding the jinchūriki at best, common citizens and at worst tools to be deployed at whim.
Tsuchi no Kuni
Bearing the climate of high altitudes and the furthest west of the main countries, the land of Earth is a rocky, mountainous land of plateaus, peaks, and elevated grasslands. The extensive mountain rages provide a natural defense against invasion but also reinforce the isolationist culture of the people who are often forced to be self reliant with the lack of infrequent visitors from neighbors, let alone foreigners. The citizens of the nation, like the steppe ridden land itself, are known to be stubborn, strong, but with a deep emphasis on empowering close family.
Of the major countries, Tsuchi no Kuni is the largest and with that, shares a wide borderline with rival nations. As such, even realtions uninvolved with the politics of the shinobi world, like trade and other commerce is often soured with a long history of border skirmishes.
Iwagakure
Hidden Rock is a Major Shinobi Village and resides within the Land of Earth. Built within the mountain ranges the village is secure within a natural stronghold, benefiting from strong defenses. With narrow waterfalls, buildings mostly of stone shaped from major formations, travel through the village is done through a network of bridges and carved structures-thus making the village extremely resilient and reminiscent of a fortress.
Iwagakure's reputation for being warlike and ruthless is not without base as the shinobi force has committed to countless acts of deciet, betrayal, and brutality to push their agenda during the ages of the Great Shinobi wars. It was during the Fourth, where Iwagakure shinobi allied with the rest of the world to defeat Obito and Madara were they able to put such assess to the test, ushering the sixty years of peace Era. However, typically slow to change, many of the families and bloodlines of Iwagakure were not entirely ready to abandon old hostilities-though they have tempred significantly since the affair.
During the period of calm, the Village has greatly internalized efforts to bolstering it's own economy and power, with some support from neighboring lands across the way. Since the reign of the current Tsuchikage however, Iwagakure has become more militant, growing incredibly focused on ganering military strength and spreading the influence of the village's shinobi throughout the country. This has put a strain on political relations, who fear the returned secular attitude and re-focus on power is all too familiar of an age where the power of Hidden Rock where regarded as villains in the Shinobi World.
