The time was night, and the moon was new. The stars were blotted out by a thick canopy of stormcloud, and the winds were still. Tonight, Iwagakure no Sato had been put to sleep, and only the ghosts of the village dared to haunt the streets.
Kyusei, Ino’o was one such ghost. His dark skin and black hair allowed him to blend into the shadows underneath one particularly large tree. His robes, a mixture of red and black, were dull enough to keep him hidden. Only his eyes--a pair of green, feline jewels--stood out. They were the telltale signs that he was there, the invitation for his partner to meet with him tonight.
Lord Tsuchikage had given him a mission and a partner, and Ino’o was to see to its completion. He wasn’t a fan of having to work in a team, but if he was given one he would do his best to accommodate for the hinderance. Hopefully his partner, a famous war hero in Iwagakure, could handle herself.
Hayakuni Eis, Ino’o mused. He wasn’t one to care about the clout around a name, but it was hard for even him to deny the prestige of this woman.
But all of this was pointless in the end. Ino’o, knowing this, tucked away his thoughts and feelings and awaited Eis’ arrival. They had a mission to complete, and complete it they would.

The clouds periodically shielded the moon, or where it was supposed to be anyway. The darkness engulfed the village, the slight whispering of the wind being the only commotion going on at the hour. There was not much to it ; meet the Jonin and get acquainted with him. Of course, first impressions proved time and time again to affect the rest of a mission, so positive vibes should be the only thing radiating tonight. Alas, if you did not have the temper of Eis, it would be the best idea. Her own ideals and views conflicted with many, but her skill set dissolved tension, her abilities defied egos and promoted good-will. It was something that came with being a decorated and dedicated warrior of Iwa, as she was equipped efficiently. Being dormant within the tree next to the braided man, his eyes that encompassed the greenest of plains from Kusa No Kuni, it was enthralling for a brief moment.
"Nothing much after that," a self imposed thought came. From the beginning, she did not care for appearances. Eis was fond of eye contact, so it was easy on her this time around. Her sleek blonde hair, bobby cut down right above her ears, shimmered through the bark background. It was a stark contrast to the black, brown mixture hue that the tree had. Only a think outline of her body could be seen, her face the most defined. She was exceptional with the camouflage technique.
"Whats the scoop?"

Ino’o didn’t show it, but he was surprised at Eis’ sudden appearance. He had heard the stories of her skill with camouflage, but to be able to hide underneath his nose? Even if he hadn’t been on guard, catching him by surprise casually was still a feat worthy of note in his eyes. Perhaps this woman wouldn’t be a hinderance after all.
Inwardly, Ino’o sighed to himself. He again noted that such things didn’t matter, and once more he tucked away his thoughts.
“Sekimen Shirou, nukenin,” Ino’o spoke as he handed her a manillia folder, “caught experimenting on some forty-odd children. Escaped with his research three years ago, with his base found last week.”
As Ino’o spoke, he left the shadows of the tree, though with a night this dark it didn’t really matter. His eyes scanned the park, finding no one there. Good. Though Eis was a war hero, that didn’t mean she could be trusted. There had been stranger tales of ambush of betrayal woven in the world. If she knew what he was doing and was offended at his paranoia, he didn't care. Personal feelings had no place in a job such as this.
Turning back to Eis, Ino’o continued. “We are to bring him back, alive if possible. The hole he’s hiding in is a night away. If we leave now, we’ll make it there at dawn.”

The whole presentation with popping out of the tree was pointless fun for her own self. Mainly, it was to test the waters. An easier way to see what type of personality she would be dealing with, or demeanor. A cold, stoic had been her catch today, albeit a little bit too stoic for her own tastes. Eis had met plenty of them, but even they showed some form expression. Keeping a record in the back of her mind, she planted her foot on the ground, the rest of the body following suit. Upon hearing the sigh, she guessed he was tired. Long night indeed, she had the nerves. Always had nerves before a mission, put her on edge, prevented effective sleeping. Her habits would die hard, whenever she would retire. Hopefully ; she'd have more missions after.
Getting a hold of the folder, she flipped through the contents at a leisure pace, "Experimentation for what? Jutsu, his own creations, nothing on that?" she asked, inquiring on more. His moving away from her did not bother her, but it added to her fiery spunk. A bit of annoyance could be heard in her tone. Most of it was not intended to be directed at the Jonin himself, but the kage. It baffled her how long it took for them to just get a mission for the guy.
"And it takes forty kids to just consider taking him down? The kage is slacking. But anyway, I am not exactly the best at keeping people alive, if their the enemy, of course. Whats the travel plan?"

Ino’o furrowed an eyebrow at Eis. Apparently she hadn’t read the information very carefully.
“Experimentation on spiritual energy. The kids were missing; turned out he had them. Didn’t find out until it was too late.”
At that, Ino’o quickly made a series of kata and then placed his hands to the ground. A puff of smoke filled the air, and what emerged were two backpacks.
“These will be our traveling supplies,” Ino’o spoke concisely as he produced a map of Tsuchi no Kuni. He pointed to the spots he was talking about. “We’ll travel through the forest to this point, a mile away from the location. From there we’ll split into two teams, you going up and I going down. We’ll go to the north and south of the base, then collapse, with me leading. With this route, you should arrive at the base ten minutes after me.
“This strategy will allow me to take out any guards and draw attention while you move in and take down the defenseless target. Any questions?”
The finality in Ino’o’s tone made it clear that this wasn’t up for discussion.

With the short, quick answers, it would be a brief meeting by the looks of it. No nonsense, straight to the point. She liked it.
"Hnnnn--" Eis started humming to herself, a bit louder than anticipated. It was originally supposed to be tune, but she tuned herself out. Her own little world of nothingness where it was another way to say that she had spaced out. Thankfully for her partner's sanity, Eis awoke from the smoke created by the summoning. It never smelled right to her.
Listening attentively, the man had taken control of the situation from himself. The mission description did not involve her being someone's henchman and being ordered around. Her pride crept into her judgement, although it functioned well with it regardless, she had to set her own bar straight. They were partners, not Ms.Slackey to Mr.Slacker.
"Since you got the schematics drawn up and everything, weights on your shoulder. Failures are placed on you, not me, since I'm just following orders, 'kapeesh~?" the last line was playfully cited, while she rummaged through the bag to find all of the necessities inside. Both were equal paranoid, mutual understanding.

“Understood,” Ino’o replied. His tone was notably less playful than Eis’ own.
With all said and done, he rolled up the map, slid it into the backpack, and put it on. There would be one stop on the way to the base in the forest to eat and prepare, and after that they’d head straight to the base. Everything was fairly straightforward, but Ino’o knew that the most straightforward missions always had the most dangerous bumps in the road.
“Let’s move out.”
Without waiting for a reply, he’d jump into the trees and begin his mission.
