{Open/No Kill} They were foolish enough to come within arm’s reach, Li Rin mused, making sure her opponent rued his mistake with the satisfying purchase of her palm to his nose. Bigger, stockier than she, the Yun inwardly squirmed with glee, watching him yelp to the flame that swelled within his face during his decent downward. She pressed on the attack, as any of her kin would do, and silenced her quarry with a combo of jabs, rendering the air right from lungs once filled with bravado-now empty, spent during the plummet to the gravel of the practice grounds.
One down, two more to go.
Ebony tails twisted with her head, beautifully complimenting this young fighter as she took on her next assailaints with an odd blend of grace and fervor. Two more boys, matching manes of red and with mirrored infernos in their gazes, blurted curses while they engaged her, pinning her with an onslaught of kicks and punches melding into a whirlwind of feints, parries, narrow dodges that kicked up the white dust of dirt tell-tale of their efforts. The grunts, pants, claps of skin upon flesh became a deliberate rhythm. No sound was out of place, a punch cupped into a waiting hand, pushed away that slid the percussion of their joining assaults into the treble notes of pants and hisses, the baritone chords of feet shuffling the ground earth.
Block right, trap arm, duck, jab. The boy bellowed with the shot to his ribs, stumbling away in a manner that didn’t impede Li Rin’s advance. Dodge left, step in, sweep foot, wait. The second fell to his back, rolling away to join his comrade who was slowly gaining the air back into his lungs, returning to their combined assault of a flurry of punches. Their movements were hollow, alien even, an elephant trying to mimic the graces of cranes, Li Rin felt their energies singing, but she was the dancer possessed.
Their attacks never garnered anything beyond emptiness and rejection, the Yun guarding against the barrage with and tempered grace until vulnerabilities became way to apparent to ignore. A leap, a double split kick, and both went sprawling across gravel, rewarding the Yun genin with the sight of her foes lain about, and the gleam of tooth by her foot.
“You bitch…” once of them, the first she dispatched managed to growl, as he picked himself from the ground, shouldered by the other two who began their careful retreat.
“You want more?!” Li Rin shouted, her eyes, despite the victorious aura of the moment, was livid with fury. “Go ahead! Say something else about my clan!”
They objected not to, stumbling away into the rocky city beyond. Leaving Li Rin with nothing else but the silence and the winds that caught her twin tails in the wind.
Yet, regardless of the caresses of air, the breezes stole away the crystalline tears into the horizon.
“Stupid boys…”
