[atrb=style, width: 350px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/dDxps.png);][atrb=valign,top] Kumiko is a shinobi of considerable age, has seen the world and is one of the few remaining veterans of the war sixty years ago. As such, she is incredibly accomplished and though she is not nearly as proficient of a shinobi as she was in her prime, she is still a force to be reckoned with. Her knowledge is so expansive, in fact, that she can judge the effects of jutsu by looking at the handseals that are formed to perform it and make effective counter-strategies from just that. She has fought many great shinobi in her time and has learned much from her travels that she can identify many techniques and styles of fighting based on their predecessors. Kumiko's single most powerful ability lies in her prowess in sealing techniques. She has devoted the better part of her life learning sealing techniques from her mother and father, her mother an Uzumaki specializing in such and her father, a Shimura who specialized in seals also (he aided his brother, Danzō in creating the Juinjutsu he used on Root operatives). Kumiko also served in the Sealing Corp during the war 60 years ago. She has learned to combine their two styles of sealing to create a special method all her own capable of devastating effects and achieving what some might think was impossible. SEALING TECHNIQUES Keiyaku Fūin ■ Contract Seal ■ 契約封印 ■ C When the user implements this fūinjutsu on a summoner, it removes any direct control the summoner has over a summoned creature. Close contact appears to be required for the implementation of the seal. Though the Contract Seal removes the summoner's ability to control its summon, it does not give the user of the fūinjutsu the ability to control the summon in turn, nor does it remove a summoner's ability to continue to summon the creature. FŪKA HŌIN ■ Fire Sealing Method ■ 封火法印 ■ B A kind of fūinjutsu that involves sealing a technique's effects within a specific location. As it is tailored for fire release ninjutsu, it requires a caster well-versed in the exacting art of "Sealing Formulas", as well as in ninjutsu. The jutsu-sealing space in the scroll is left blank, for the formula to be inscribed in with a brush. After performing the needed hand seals, vapor appears from the scroll, and envelops the flames. They are sucked in towards the scroll, and the appearance of the kanji for seal (封) certifies the technique's completion. Once the sealing is performed, the technique's effects cannot be released anew as long as an unsealing technique is not applied. It is an effective technique to circumvent any secondary damage a dangerous enemy technique might cause. It is even capable of sealing the black flames of Amaterasu. Gōgyo Fūin ■ Five Elements Seal ■ 五行封印 ■ A This technique produces a powerful seal that is used to block or disturb the flow of chakra in a target. Once the seal is completed, the target will become unconscious and unable to fight for a short time. Also of note with this ability is the ability to disrupt even-numbered seals due to the imbalance in seal count. Gōgyo Kaiin ■ Five Elements Unseal ■ 五行解印 ■ A This technique is used to remove seals of up to equal power, like the Five Elements Seal. TOMEDATE NO FŪIN ■ Seal of Restraint ■ 留め立ての封印 ■ B In order to use this seal, Kumiko must first perform the required handseals and then draw a circle in both palms directly from her blood. Afterward, Kumiko slams her hands into the desired target, causing two rings of blood to materialize around the target's arms and legs restraining their movement until the seal is removed. KYŪSEKAI FŪIN ■ Ancient World Sealing Method ■ 留め立ての封印 ■ B Kyūsekai Fūin is an ancient fūinjutsu utilized by warriors in ancient times to ensure the sanctity of single combat. When used, this seal erects a powerful barrier shaped like an oval which ascends to form an elliptical dome. The sides of the dome don't allow those on the outside to approach it, propelling a wave of energy to those who come within five inches of the walls. The dome also assures that those outside of its bounds cannot see within it, obscuring what's within it in a shroud of what appears to be clouds. Those on the inside of the dome cannot surpass its bounds, but are not repelled from its walls, and is transparent from the inside. The seal naturally dissipates after an hour's time though Kumiko can dispel it with a handseal. HAKAIFŪIN ■ Destruction Sealing Method ■ 破壊封印 ■ S A form of sealing derived from Shimura methods of fūinjutsu. Unlike other styles of sealing, this style is specifically geared toward manipulating the chakra put int othe seal to disassemble the molecular bonds of the object bearing the seal and then absorb that energy into the seal itself. In doing so, it releases the incredible stores of energy within the bonds in a violent explosion. This effectively allows Kumiko to destroy nearly anything she places a seal upon. Objects subject to the seal come to bear a scar in the shape of the seal following the explosion denoting the molecules which were reduced to individual atoms. To place the seal onto an object, Kumiko must first form a string of several hand seals. Following this prerequisite action, she will slam her hand or the body part of her choosing which initially bears the seal (i.e.: the sole of her foot) into her intended target transferring the seal from her hand to the body of the target. The seal takes the initial appearance of the kanji 割 in a thick black circle. As such, Kumiko can lay traps by transferring the seal through her foot or another body part. Kumiko is capable of increasing the scope of the destruction from just the kanji to more area by holding the contact of her initial transference denoted by the spreading of sealing formulae throughout the body of the target. As such, if she held the contact for longer periods of time, larger areas of the body contain the seal. Kumiko is also capable of placing multiple seals to increase devastation when she releases all the seals at once. Once the seal is transferred it will lay dormant until prompted to take action by Kumiko forming a bird handseal. YIN-YANG TECHNIQUES takama-ga-hara ■ Plain of High Heaven ■ 高天原 ■ C After years of training and refining her abilities in the yin-yang release, Kumiko was capable of devising a form of sensory all her own rooted in the ability to communicate with, sense and manipulate her own soul and the souls of others. Under the power granted to her by takama-ga-hara, Kumiko can sense the presence of others by sensing the presence of their souls, and even feel their emotions within a defined range of one kilometer. Shōjiki-sha ■ Honest Soul ■ 正直者 ■ B Shōjiki-sha is a technique utilizing the Yin-Yang release. After forming physical contact with another person, Kumiko transmits their chakra into the other person and formed a bond to their soul. Through this bond, Kumiko is capable of extracting all of that soul's memories, and knowledge and even what they are feeling. The problem with this technique is that a lucid soul is capable of doing the same thing to Kumiko and therefore, information can be extracted from her as well. Typically, this technique is used as a last resort to obtain information, and is, done extremely quickly so that the probed soul doesn't realize they have the power to reciprocate extraction. Given the fact that information is being extracted through the soul, it is impossible for this information to be false in the sense of a lie which is created in the brain. kizuna ■ Ties That Bind ■ 霊の廉潔賦性 ■ B Kizuna is a technique relying on the manipulation of Yin Yang chakra. After forming the needed handseals, Kimiko becomes capable of communicating spiritually with the souls within the confines of their sensory range. Communication in this way is different than other brands such as the Yamanaka, which is done through the mind. Spiritual communication does not use words, but emotions. Kumiko is capable of conveying emotions to convey her actual message. This brand of communication is difficult to interpret during the first instance. One might not know how she conveys emotions and feelings personally and it leads to potential misreading of the conveyed message. However, since matters of the soul transcend the mind, the second and each subsequent communication comes through crystal clears as the first communication is used so that the two souls acquaint with one another. This technique is not limited to simply communication, however. This can be used somewhat offensively to convey fear and despair onto enemies, or other emotions depending on the situation and intention of the caster. Shiraha no Ikigami ■ Living God's Sword Edge ■ 白刃の生き神 ■ S This technique is said to grant Kumiko unspeakable power and inhumane abilities. Utilizing the Yin Yang nature, Kumiko manipulates a soul whether it be her own or another's. After forming the needed modified handseal, Kumiko essentially spits the target soul into pieces. These portions of the soul are then formed into physical creatures of variable size though their appearance is traditionally always that of a white globular mass with a large mouth and a number of horns along their bodies. This technique was made Kinjutsu by Kumiko herself, not for its difficulty, but because of its inhumane mechanism. Repeated usage of this technique usually leaves the target marred by marred by personality abnormalities, and loss of memory from the repeated splitting of their soul. Splitting the soul into too many pieces at once will also leave the original soul, on which this technique was used, too fractured to be considered living. Rei no shinkyō ■ Divine Mirror of the Soul ■ 霊の神鏡 ■ S This technique revolves around the usage of Yin Yang chakra in order to manipulate Kumiko's soul. After forming the needed modified handseal, Kumiko makes physical contact with a given target and absorbs some of their soul into her own. This technique is not often used by Kumiko as many of the soul fragments created from Shiraha no Ikigami are not created from her own soul. By utilizing this technique, she is capable of assuming a part of another's soul and therefore can alter their being based on the piece of the soul they have absorbed. Absorbing the soul allows Kumiko to assume the appearance of the person whose soul is absorbed and even replicate the appearance of their chakra, making them virtually indistinguishable from that person who is absorbed. While this technique has considerable usage, it can only be used once by any given fragment of a soul, the exception being Kumiko's original soul which is capable of absorbing multiple souls. Reigakō ■ Soul Sketching ■ 霊画稿 ■ S Reigakō is a powerful juinjutsu utilized by Kumiko utilizing her Yin Yang nature. Under the effects of this seal, a soul is placed under Kumiko's control. After forming two circles of blood in her hand, Kumiko will make contact with the target's body and transfer the seal. Since the seal is placed on the soul, however, it leaves no physical markings. It is thereby nearly undetectable safe for others who can sense souls and the abnormalities therein. Kumiko is then capable of transferring her will or an emotion onto the given soul when she activates this seal and is capable of making that will or emotion wholly consume that soul. She can make one who is always happy, for instance, become consumed with rage and act outside of their typical personality by transferring and sealing malice into their souls. This technique has also been make kinjutsu by Kumiko herself due to the inhumanity of its mechanics. |
