In a small adobe under a large tree on the edge of the forest, he lied upon his futon. His hair unkempt and frizzy, upon standing up from his bed he matted down his hair with his hand and placed his bucket-hat onto his yellow mane. The intoxicating aroma of the evening whisked in through the open window, spreading across the shack in an instant. He slept a little longer than he intended to; not that it mattered, the time of day was of little significance to him really.
Not much longer after he awoken did he hear a knock at the door. Ear twitching, he itched the thin of his neck with his index finger. He honestly had no clue who could be knocking at his door since he hadn't been the most social man since his arrival in the small, ragtag village he wandered into two nights ago. The possibilities escaped him completely. In a moment curiosity though, he trudge over to the door and opened it with a murmur.
"Um, hi." a squeaky voice greeted him immediately. Standing outside of his door, with a small wooden basket covered by a pink blanket, was a young purples haired girl with rosy cheeks. "I, um, saw you arrive two day ago..." her voice trailed off, she seemed nervous. "And I haven't seen you around the village, so I, um, brought you some bread and danishes. I run the villages bakery, you see...and I...um..."
"Why thank you," replied Kirin with an innocent smile. He could tell from the very moment that he first laid eyes on the young women that she was rather timid, hearing her speak only further confirmed his hypothesis. "What a kind gesture."
"You're, um, welcome." She handed him the basket while avoiding every form of eye contact with Kirin. She steadily watched the ground even after the basket was fully in his possession. "Well, um, that's all I wanted to say...so bye!" she said hurriedly as she began to speed off.
"What is your name?" as Kirin spoke the young women seemed to freeze in place. Setting the basket on the table inside his adobe, he stepped back out promptly.
"My name..." retorted back, as if she was in utter disbelief of the question she was just asked. "My name is Saiko."
"Hello Saiko," he extended his hand out with a certain aura of embrace. He seemed warm and welcoming. "My name is Kirin."
