KUMOGAKURE NO SATOKumogakure no Sato (Hidden Cloud Village) (雲隠れの里) is located in the center of a vast range of mountains toward the center of Kaminari no Kuni (Land of Lightning) (雷の国). The actual village is located about thirty miles from the tallest peak of the range and the village itself is built into the side of and at the tops of smaller mountains. The village is connected by a series of wide suspension bridges and earthen bridges formed from the mountains. While the village seems to be minuscule in comparison to the other villages (about half the distance from one end of Konoha to the other) which spread horizontally, Kumogakure is build both horizontally and vertically. Therefore, there are sections of the village located below the canopy section of the village. To access these sections of the village, an earthen elevator-like system is implemented within the mountains.
Most establishments within the village are built into the mountains so that the exterior is man-made while the interior is a cave. The architecture resembles that of feudal times, a characteristic attributed to the fact that Kumogakure has held onto tradition moreso than any other place in the world. All doors slide, roofs are made of tile and lighting is strictly of the lantern sort.
Kumogakure is composed of three tiers. The upper tier is where the six Idai Chōjō (Great Peaks)
(偉大頂上) reside. Aside from them, rich merchants and high officials live. The Raikage's Tower is in the upper tier at the center of the village. The middle tier is where most of the population resides. It is home to most shopping and leisure districts as well as the majority of residential districts. The lower district is at the foot of the village where the mountains reach the earth. Only the poorest villagers live here and the village prison is located here as well, underground. There is not much to say about this tier because nothing is supposed to be here; the poor reside here because no one else would have them stinking up their tiers.PLACES IN KUMOGAKURERaikage no Kōtō (High Tower of the Raikage) (雷影の高塔)
The High Tower of the Raikage is where the Raikage and the majority of the government reside. The tower, being so massive and important, is the only actual structure within the village that makes full use of the mountain it is established upon. In other words, the entire mountain, from foot to peak is occupied. It is so expansive it has upward of sixty floors. Being such an important building, it is almost impenetrable from the outside, and is said to only be able to be accessed from the series of doors managed by security ninja. The military offices are all located further toward the peak of the mountain, with the Tsuchikage's being the highest level in the notable blue structure.KAMINARI NO KUNIKaminari no Kuni is the country neighboring only Shimo no Kuni (Land of Frost) (霜の国). Geographically speaking, it is one of the largest ninja nations, rivaled closely by Hi no Kuni in terms of area. The nation is named due to the thousands of mountains within it, many of which reach up past the clouds; storms dominate the terrain and thunder and lightning are common occurrences in such storms. The number of mountains is so numerous that very few flatlands exist, causing further establishments in the mountain. The border of the nation was decided by where these towering mountains come to a close to give way to flatlands.PLACES IN KAMINARI NO KUNITen no Tani (Valley of the Heavens) (天の谷) is the largest mountain range in the world, and the mountain range in which Kumogakure is located. It received its name because the first recorded inhabitants of the mountain took command of the skies, and are said to have crossed Ama-no uki-hashi and found acceptance in Takamagahara.
Ten no Tani has very few paths and therefore is said to be almost impossible to traverse. Of the few paths which exist, the most notable path is Tenchi no Keiro (The Path of Heaven and Earth) (天地の経路). The Path of Heaven and Earth is said to be the very path which those monks took to ascend to Takamagahara. The Path is the only way to Kumogakure but by air. The path is particularly thin and winding, only wide enough for two wagons to traverse side by side. The trek from the starting point of the Path to Kumogakure alone is a journey or two days with minimal breaks.
