Was it bright, or dark? Cold, or hot? Who knew, it was all subjective anyway! One person's heat stroke was another person's pneumonia. Tricky how the world worked, wasn't it? Well, to a certain individual it was usually hot considering he wore a glorified morph suit twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Well, he did take it off when nature called and to bathe... sometimes, though no one except him would know about that. Why? Because he motherfucking said so, that's why! Weather aside there were too many people running about the village, not literally running mind you though that would have made this day much more interesting, but just being out and about in general.
Gouben didn't mind people, it was usually the other way around. You see, the man was for all intents and purposes insane and yet had still somehow managed to not only become a Jounin ranked shinobi but also wield one of the most sacred items in the entire village. He had earned it, don't get him wrong, but something so powerful in the hands of a mad man was just asking for trouble. Sure, he had leveled a couple buildings in his day, but it was by complete accident! He couldn't help it that the roach he was chasing after had crawled into a crack, besides it wasn't like anyone had gotten killed... just maimed. See? Nothing serious. Any who, there was need of a new plague to clear some of these people away. Gouben didn't want anyone to die, he just needed them to die is all. No one specific, women, children, the elderly it didn't really matter, but all of these people were crowding his aura, ya dig?
Where would a man such as this who prayed for plagues and toppled occupied buildings on a whim be heading? Easy, to the most guarded place in the entire village of course! The Mizukage had sent summons for the man to come in regards to a mission of some sort. Why anyone would want Gouben causing havoc in the name of Kirigakure was a mystery, or rather, one that was about to be revealed. The Jounin had arrived at the manor in a matter of minutes, a trail of knocked over people and debris left in his wake. He saw them as obstacles to test his dexterity and well... no one had died, at least! Shooting past the lobby he made a bee-line for the door that hopefully held within the Kage.
Many loud and obnoxious knocks rattled the wooden door and if she had been dozing off before, that had come to a crashing halt. "MIZUKAGE-SAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. It's me, Gouben. Open uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup." Yes, this man was insane but he would wait rather impatiently for the woman to open the door. After all, it was rude to just waltz into someone else's room after all!

The door Gouben found himself in front of wasn't the Mizukage's office. Her office wasn't on the first floor, it was up on the fifth. Gouben might realize this after looking at the door and realizing it said "Ladies room" on it. Or the two guards who stood across the lobby and the others that stood by the stairs could help him. But before he could act, the lobby entrance would open and the guards would jump to attention as two Mei Kiri members would enter followed by Shichidaime Mizukage Terumi Rinruri.
She hadn't actually been in her office, just coming from a meeting with some merchants. As she crossed the lobby she heard the commotion and stopped, as did the guards. Raising her head and adjusting her hat, blue with the water symbol on it and a drape in its backside. Yeah, it was her alright, no one else had those piercing eyes.
"Gouben...?
What are you doing?"
She asked, in what sounded like a more annoyed then angry tone, she didn't look happy but then again she rarily ever looked happy. She had one of those stern gaits that didn't seem to change much. [/color][/blockquote] [/div][/div][/right]

Being patient and having manners were difficult when the person who invited you were taking their dear sweet time opening the door! What could she have been doing in there? Had it not been for the mask covering his face those present may have seen a devilish smirk cross his features as the various thoughts raced through his mind. Was the Mizukage secretly doing naughty things in the privacy of her office? Hmm, nah, couldn't be. Gouben hadn't heard any fumbling about when he started knocking so that probably wasn't the scenario. Perhaps she was sleep? Everyone loved mid-day naps! The man nodded to himself to confirm his theory as his head jerked around at the sound of a door opening. Unfortunately it wasn't the office door but maybe whoever it was could tell him where Rinruri was and why she was taking so long.
A brow raised upon seeing that the very woman who was supposed to be behind the door he was standing in front of had turned the corner. Awwwwwwwwwkward. Furthermore, how rude of her to call him to the manor and then not even be there! "Uhh, waiting on you to open up this door from the other side which is where you should be because you summoned me here, remember?" He took a deep, exaggerated breath after spitting out that entire sentence. "Now come on and open this do--" He sentence was cut off after he turned back around and noticed the word "Ladies" atop the door. So this wasn't the Mizukage's office? Hmm, that would explain things, though considering Rinruri hadn't been here to begin with it might as well have been!
"Soooooo, where's that office of yours again?" He would attempt to act like the Mizukage hadn't just caught him loitering in front of the women's restroom, and besides there were more important things going on. Gouben made a mental note to himself to always check for signs on doors in the future. Imagine what would have happened had he just opened the door and walked in? Sex. That is what would have happened. Well, nah, girls were icky with that whole canyon sitting between their legs leading to who-knew-where.

She looked at him sternly for a moment before waved her hand off, it seemed like nothing to any common person but anyone who knew the Mizukage and the guards who watched her, knew that was a sign to wave off the unseen ones. Clearly she didn't want them kill Gouben, thinking he was a spy or something, which only goes to show the state of affairs in the village as of late.
Silently, she continued forward, turning at the waist to look back at Gouben, raising her hand and indicating with her finger to follow. They would then travel up a flight of stairs that wound around the lobby, onto the second floor mezzanine. From here it was up another set of spiraling stairs leading up, and then along an inner corridor and another set of stairs. Seven guard posts where between the ground floor and this route to the office. Finally the office, the two Mei Kiri positioned themselves outside her door as one of them bowed and opened the door, Rinruri never faltering in step making her way in. Taking off her hat she tossed it onto the coat and hat stand in the corner as she took off the Mizukage garb and did the same revealing her to be in her standard clothing. The guards outside her office on the balcony stood at attention as Rinruri made her way to her desk and took a seat.
It was a minute or two of silence as one of the guards would close the door behind Gouben. Rinruri shuffled through her papers, moving files, clearing her organized and pristine desk back to the way it was supposed to be. Finally she pulled out a file and set it on the table.
"Nai Gouben Kirigakure no sato Shinobigatana... Last mission was B ranked...
Completed with highest remarks from employer, although states lacking rational thought...
Are you ready for a real Mission, Gouben?"
She asked, looking up from the folder and its contents in a icy glare that could pierce any mans soul. She was not the kind of woman who suffered fools, and was stronger willed then her grandmother was, which showed in those deep eyes.

Awkward silence, much? No doubt about it, and whoever had left all the windows open needed to be fired for having to make the Mizukage wave her hand around to shoo off a fly. Had Gouben missed the subtle hint for the unseen guards to lay off? By a mile and a half, but what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him. Hell, he was still upset about standing in front of the restroom for as long as he did and would have kicked the door down had Rinruri not looked so upset. Alas, the man would exact his revenge in due time but for now excitement had taken over upon wondering what exactly was going on. Though insane, the Jounin was aware of the not so friendly relations going on in the village. None had yet to test him, and few probably would. Hell, he probably wouldn't even use the sword latched to his back either... well, not its intended use anyway. There was an odd thrill that came from just beating someone with an object so heavy and blunt that the need for wasting chakra seemed unnecessary.
Ah, they were finally moving! Hopefully the woman knew where her office was because Gouben sure as hell didn't. His eyes circled around the set of spiral stairs, always a nice touch. He liked them, though as they continued to climb round and round the Jounin began to feel ill, his equilibrium had been thrown off. "Ugh, think I'm gonna be sick." He said under his breath before realizing that if he did indeed vomit that it would just run down the inside of his suit. Gross. Having that happen... again... would be no fun and cleaning out throw up stains was a major pain in the ass.
Almost as if his unsaid prayer had been answered the seemingly never ending set of stairs finally came to a halt, though the number of guards remained a constant. Sheesh, being the leader of a village must have put an extra large target on her back. Oh well, it wasn't his problem to worry about! Awkward silence number two took place when the woman de-robed, granted she had on clothes underneath but a little warning would have gone a long way. Not like Gouben wanted to see anything anyway, with the whole women being yucky and the canyon thing going on.
"Hey! I'm completely rational. Wasn't my fault that guy couldn't appreciate the beauty of a herd of cows standing on each other!"Both in and out of context that statement made absolutely no sense, but it was an accomplishment the man was proud of. How many other people had successfully cow stacked before? None, that's how many! "A real mission? What'cha got in mind Rin-rin-sama?" The nickname was odd, and probably infuriating but that was the risk in dealing with one such as Gouben.

She looked at him, not a twitch, no nerve popping. One cold bitch, as people liked to call her sometimes.
"Gouben...
As one of the Kirigakure Shinobigatana, you are tasked with maintaining the heritage of the Seven and protecting Kirigakure's interests as long as you remain loyal to the village...
As it stands the heritage of the Seven has been broken, and three of the weapons have gone missing...
These are important to Kirigakure and its heritage, so we cannot allow them to float freely in the world"
She said, and paused as she pulled out a file. The name was Hoshigake Kisame on it.
"Currently, we know of one of the blades and where it might be located...
Our knowledge links Hoshigaki Kisame the last member of the seven that wielded the Samehada, to Killer B of Kumogakure no sato...
Killer B was the last person our intelligence has seen with that blade... and that was at the end of the war...
Gouben, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is S-rank Classified.
Your task, track down the whereabouts of Samehada, infiltrating other villages if need be, and do your best to..."
She paused, knowing she had to put this delicately, or else Gouben might start a war with Kumogakure no sato.
"Negotiate its return... Do not under any circumstance attack, or incite our "Allies" Kumogakure no sato into an action that could lead to war... If they are reluctant to relinquish the blade, report directly to me as to further course of action... This is your immediate order...
Your standing order is to track or locate the other two, without getting caught or casting Kirigakure into further conflict."
She said and handed him the file containing the details Kirigakure had of Samehada, as well as the other two blades.

He had heard this spiel before, many times in fact. Something or the other about upholding tradition and what not even though the group was more a bunch of individuals than a cohesive unit. Hell, they couldn't even get together to take a group picture! Not like anyone cared about the people wielding the swords, after all, it had always been about the weapons, and this was why, it seemed, Gouben had been brought to the Mizukage manor on this not so fine day in Kirigakure.
The Jounin's ears perked up after hearing that the whereabouts of one of the original swords had been found as the familiar name of Kisame rang through his ears. A great swordsman but one who had defected to some rogue group whose name Gouben couldn't be arsed to remember. Whoever this Killer B person must have had some interesting chakra to be able to pry Samehada away from Kisame, though given how old the info was on him there was a good chance he had since passed the sword on to someone else, or rather Samehada had accepted a new owner. Always a pain in the ass that sword.
While insane, Gouben did have a bit of common sense on him when it came to his shinobi duties and could guess what this S-rank classification held in it: retrieving Samehada. Though before the man could get too excited about possibly ripping the demented, sentient blade from someone's cold, dead hands Rinruri had to go ahead and ruin the fun by telling him to basically play nice. What was the fun of having a S-rank mission if someone didn't get maimed in the process. Even though the woman would not be able to see it, Gouben was sticking his tongue out at her.
Then came the second order to look for the other two missing swords, and again came the leash preventing any fun from happening. Any normal person would have wondered if this mission was purely S-rank because of Gouben's unpredictability, luckily he was not one of them and would more than likely throw caution to the wind. Taking the file and flipping through the various pages with blinding speed it was then decided what would happen next.
"Hmmmmm, gonna get 'ole Samehada back, eh?" He said while stroking his non-existent chin hair, not that the Mizukage knew that but the illusion was all the same. "IIIIIIIIII accept. Oh, and uh... I'll remember to ne-goo-ti-ate, but if they swing first you can't get mad, promiseeeee?" The answer wouldn't matter in the end, Gouben was going to do him. Granted, he would try the peaceful method first but expected that to not go so well as village's weren't too keen on giving up powerful weapons... even if they belonged to other villages.

She looked at him the same way, no really amused by any of his antics. But still the mission was put forward, and with his question she answered in the way a Kage would.
"If you are attacked, I trust you to act like a Kirigakure shinobi and make them remember why..."
She spoke, while folding her hands together propped up on her elbows.
"We are known as the Bloody Mist"
She said, which she hoped he understood by the meaning. The mission was so ranked due to its difficulty, as it was not accomplish-able in all likelihood through negotiation which she figured. She expected that Gouben would try something off the books, underhanded, and if he was caught she could inform Kumogakure that Gouben left the mission parameters and was acting like a rougue agent, meaning that his actions would not incite a war. This is what she figured was going to happen, which is why she left the surveillance equipment in her office on, as evidence of the interaction and the mission and trusting Gouben to find the hidden meaning in her words.
But she was also hoping Gouben upon realizing this made the logical choice, and didn't do such a thing, as that would play into the Councils hands who would use Gouben's action in the event he did go "rogue" as they would call it, to gain more backing against Rinruri. A slippery political slope, especially in the midst of a heated underground civil war that had yet to go full force.

Was Gouben good at reading subtle hints? Well, that was the wrong question to ask. The real inquiry should have been was the man capable of keeping such things hush-hush? Normally, not on his life. In the past any hints and clues thrown his way were blurted out as if he were some spastic child who had yet to learn the concept of an inside voice. Luckily, that would not be the case today... or at least right now. In no uncertain terms the woman had given the swordsman full authority to let loose should those Cloud babies start acting up, and boy was he going to see that through. Then again, that was only if they acted up first. Patience had never been his strong suit, ever, so maybe just maybe Gouben would get them riled up with a few words and then get the battle he desired. Yeah, that way Rinruri wouldn't be held responsible for the inevitable destruction of the Hidden Cloud Village because Gouben was toooooootally going to bring that place to the ground.
"Ahhh, gotcha. Welp, let's get this show on the road then! I'll be back with that demon spawn of a sword in two shakes... though if it tries to eat my chakra I'mma punt it." True words, Gouben hated that damn sword, or at least the thought of it. He had never interacted with the sword but knew that it functioned similar to his own Hiramekarei in that it stored chakra, and walking around with a depleted reserve of chakra on a daily basis was no fun, so he imagined walking around with that leech of a sword was a billion times worse.
Hands began to twitch, a quick tap of the foot kicked up in a matter of moments, he was excited. This was going to be fun in more ways than one and Gouben couldn't handle being in this village any longer than he had to. "ALLLRIIIIGHT GOUBEN OUUUUUUUT!" He screamed while throwing his hands in the air. With a quick turn the man sprinted towards the door, not bothering to stop and open it but preferring to barrel right through it. Whether it blew off the hinges or he left a man sized outline in it he didn't know, though it would need to be replaced more than likely. "SORRY, I'LL FIX IT WHEN I GET BAAACK." Gouben added as he began down the spiral stairs before tripping over his own feet and tumbling down them... all the way down. It was like a never ending downward spiral. It didn't seem to phase him, however, as the Jounin bounced right up and continued sprinting until he finally reached the exit.
"HOWDY-HO QUICK SILVER, LET US MOVE WITH HASTE!" He bellowed with a hearty laugh before making a bee line for the gates. This was to be the beginning of a grand adventure.

As she watched Gouben leave, she motioned to wave off the Mei Kiri members again. Once Gouben was gone she turned her chair around to look out the balcony and into the misty village beyond.
"So it begins...
As the Mist Wakes..."
She said, and glared into one of the cameras in her office. This was intended for the council, as she knew they were viewing this footage. She knew they would try something now, to incite Gouben, which was the point.
