His voice slammed down onto D's eardrums like lightning. He didn't need to see the face, or the bald head or the bulging muscles reminiscent of his grandfather to know that the man who spoke from behind him was his father. And he didn't need a reason to know that whatever it was that brought him back to the village would be of dire importance.
He heard his heavy boots slam down against the floor as he walked from the great windows behind D's desk to the front, a cigar in hand. From behind his shades, he looked down on his son, a half-smile donning his face.
"You seem to be getting more cozy in that chair, kiddo." he chuckled.
"You'd be better suited for it, I think. You're closer in size to him." D replied, standing from his seat and bowing low to his father to show his respect.
"Kage don't bow. That's something you should have learned from him and I. Hold yourself high, boy-o. You're Raikage, a Yoippari of high esteem and most importantly my boy-o."
D could think of no reply as he stood to face the eyes of his father behind his black shades.
"Anywho... you have to take action, kiddo. I was traveling, as I usually do and I saw something peculiar."
"Ah?"
"A Tailed Beast Ball. I also saw the Ichibi. Quite peculiar that he is in Kaminari no Kuni... it's a long way from Kaze no Kuni, no?"
D said nothing in response... no, he merely brought his fist down into the middle of his desk, splitting it once again in half under the force.
"I see you know something of this."
"I do. The fucking cat who calls himself Kazekage lost the Shukaku some time ago and did nothing to retrieve it. It was in Hi no Kuni last I checked, but I assumed the Hokage would have done something to find it and it wouldn't be our problem. It seams now it is in Kaminari no Kuni."
"Shameful, that it could pass through two ninja countries without being detected."
"It is shameful, indeed. What these other kage must have forgotten after sixty years of peace is the Cloud's intolerance for bullshit. We don't let these slights go unseen..."
"Or unpunished." Jōi took the liberty of finishing D's sentence; afterall, the mantra was originally his own.
"I was going to see if some of the international drama could blow over so I could deal with troubles back home, but it seems to be of no use... I'm going to have to call a summit it seems."
"Wise of you." Jōi smirked. "I would take care of the Shukaku first, but a meeting certainly seems to be in order. Especially with how the Shodai Kazekage carried on about how we should all pay them when the villages was founded because they already had possession of Ichibi."
"It seems this Kazekage is spitting in the face of the wishes of his ancestor, no?"
"That's how it seems to me."
"Good. Maybe I can teach him some respect for not just the rest of the world but his own history when I see him next. Maybe I can erase him altogether. Save two villages at once in the process."
"Your responsibility is to the Cloud, m'boy, not the Sand. Let them kill their own kage for his incompetence. Don't take it upon yourself."
"Hn... I really want to bash his face in though."
"No more than I do, but it makes it no less wise," he folded his arms as he looked out the window to survey the village. "Oi, D-kun. I heard you traveled to Konoha for Naruto-sama's funeral. Tell me... did you see Osa-kun?" |

It was about that time for Osa to make his monthly visit to Kumogakure no Sato. Things had finally settled down in Konohagakure since the incident at Naruto's funeral and 'Sio's' sealing. Sure, there was still controversy over the issue of the Bijūtsukai, but a sense of normalcy had returned to the village. And as such, it was time to pop in and check on the other villages.
After going through the usual protocol to get into the village Osa dropped off his things in the ambassador's embassy. Honestly, after what he heard on the way to the village had disturbed him greatly. The Ichibi was still loose and had made its way to Kaminari no Kuni. Even worse it utterly destroyed at least one village in its rampage. Deciding to waste no time Osa headed towards the Raikage's office and made his way through the building.
Before he could even approach the secretary he could hear the boisterous voice of his father. He was one of the last people that he wanted to see. Their last interaction didn't exactly go over too smoothly. In fact, it ended with the two of them "sparring" outside of the village and him claiming that until he still had a long way to go before he could claim their bloodline.
"I'll take that as my cue," he said to D's secretary when he heard his name mentioned. Walking down the short hallway he knocked on the door. "Sarutobi Osa, here on report from Konohagakure no Sato."

Well, this was turning into a good old fashioned family reunion now, wasn't it? D's eyes immediately cut toward his father's face when he heard his elder brother announce himself from outside the door. This could mean one of two things. Either his office would be destroyed in his father's joy from seeing his two children or he would destroy his office in rage; angered by the presence of the son who he was holding claim to the bloodline over. The most irritating part was that D would be all but powerless to stop this one from destroying it all.
"Come in." he said cautiously, still gazing upon his father for some sort of indication of the coming actions. He didn't move. Just continued to look out of the window though he did reach up to grasp his glasses and pull them down from his face.
"Osa-san," D began laughing nervously as he re-noted the fact that he'd earlier destroyed his desk. "It slipped my mind that this was the usual time Konoha would send its envoy. Uh... dad's here."
Jōi turned now to face his eldest son, his face hard and unmoved by his appearance. "It seems a Kage Summit has just been called by honorable Lord Raikage."
"Eh??" D asked bewildered at his new-found title with their father.
"Yes, yes, boy-o, you are Lord Raikage afterall, no? Or did they name in my absence for some silly reason or another?
"We should cut this meeting short. There is no time for us to hug and all that bullshit when we all know that Shukaku is on the loose. I hope you are aware of this also, huh, Osa-kun?" Jōi turned to D before looking back to Osa. "I'm going to be joining D-kun as his guardian in the travel to the Summit venue. Osa, I expect you'll be going as well, huh? We have some... business to settle?"
"You're going with me? I was gonna take Tsuyoi and Sukui..."
"Those two clowns are still alive? I expected them to die a while ago."
"... Wow, Otosan. That was harsh."
"Eh, my sister was a hard bitch but her kids... not so much. I thought Tsuyoi would die before he was even born, and he was the smallest and saddest baby I've ever seen. I half wanted to kill him myself so no one could get attached to him and mourn him extra hard when he eventually died."
"... O____O"
"What?"
"Yeah... you're right, we should probably get down to business. Osa-san, any news from Konoha we should discuss before we made arrangements for the Summit?" |

Stepping into the office Osa caught a glimpse of the dark shadow to his right from the corner of his eye. The fact that it was taller than him, whether it was by an inch or ten, bothered him. But then again, the only person that he did not have a problem literally looking up to was his grandfather, A. His relationship with his grandfather did not consist solely of the late Raikage lording his power over him. Where as with his father there was a constant need to prove himself. Rank, prestige, jutsu prowess all meant nothing to his father it seemed.
Nothing would matter until he could best him in combat. At least, that's how Osa saw it. He never could get a read on what his father actually thought.
Seeing the destroyed desk in front of his little brother softened his expression a little, a faint smile daring to form. They were a destructive group of people. It wasn't until he got banned from fighting in the village did that lesson take root in Osa himself. That and he couldn't afford to keep buying new furniture. Being an ambassador paid out nicely. Just not that nice. "Good to know your carpenters are in good business," he joked before D made mention of their father. Turning his head slightly to face the man his expression hardened once more.
The announcement of the Kage Summit did not come as a surprise, nor was D's shock unexpected. Their father tended to take over situations when the urge came to him. The Shukaku being loose seeming to trigger it in this case. However, when Joi mentioned settling things his brow furrowed. "Yes, I've heard of the Ichibi's latest attack. Sunagakure seems to be in no rush to retrieve their lost beast. Or simply inept. But yeah, I will attend. Wouldn't dream of disappointing you, Father." The last word came out a little harsher than he intended.
Returning his attention back to his brother Osa pulled out a dossier and made to place it on D's desk, but caught himself before letting it go. So instead he handed the folder to the Raikage. "That's the more detailed report," he said. "But in terms of the village, things have finally simmered down. With the issue of Naruto-sama's passing, the incident at the funeral, and the general shakiness that comes with appointing a new leader things were rough for a bit. The situation with our jinchūriki has been handled," he said in reference to Ojin's demands. "Other than that, there will be a few missions that will take place in Kaminari no Kuni soon. So, just a heads up if some of our troops are spotted."
"It is a good time to call for a summit," he said as he glanced back at his father and then back to D. "Our spies have reported seeing Iwagakure shinobi in Taki no Kuni. The reason is currently unknown, but given how distant Iwagakure has become I can guarantee no good can come from it. If it is a power play on the lesser villages then, in my opinion, it should not be overlooked. Lastly, Kirigakure seems to be undergoing some sort of civil unrest. Much like Iwagakure they have been pretty distant since the Fourth War, but Masahige-sama believes there is cause for tension within their village. As our ally, he felt you might appreciate such information."

[atrb=style, width: 350px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/dDxps.png);][atrb=valign,top]"Hm... it's a good thing we have you all, huh? We have no interests in what happens a world away so we wouldn't have known of this brewing turmoil. It is quite bothersome, however, that the Tsuchikage is being so aggressive is worrisome. I hope she'll make it to the summit then and pause her conquests... to not do so is a slap in the face to all the other four villages." D responded as he took the dossier from his older brother. He flipped through it, knowing he'd have to read it in the coming hours before the summit was organized. He hated reading political documents. He hated politics. But such was the nature of his position. "I also hope the Mizukage can make it. I know of their internal conflict as well, as we have some... internal worries."
"Are they still trying to kill you now?" Jōi laughed from across the room. "I thought they would have given up on this by now."
"Eh..., yeah, there are plots afoot. I have agents telling me of some of their plans, but I can't help but think things are going to get a little more radical soon."
"Osa-san, I'm sure you know of Kumo's conflict with our bloodline."
"Our bloodline," Jōi grunted, motioning to himself and D. His perceived disdain for his eldest son was all but apparent now. "He has no claim to it."
"I'm pretty sure you squirted him our of your dick, otosan."
"... Did I?"
"What a fuck." D shook his head, before looking back to his brother apologetically for their father's behavior. "He's a prick. Take no offense. I claim you as a brother, even if he won't claim you as a son.
"Anywho, you should know, as my brother, that the clans of Kumogakure, or rather, some of them, want me dead. They think something or the other about me taking over the entirety of Kaminari no Kuni and ruling it as a tyrannical overlord. I may be many things, a pervert, bellicose fool, or what have you, but I have no desire to rule anything. I'm only Raikage because tradition pretty much forces me into it... Whatever. I just thought... you might want to know.
"We should make moves to initiate the summit. I will send my envoys to all five villages as swiftly as they can make it there and instruct the Kage to leave for Tetsu no Kuni immediately upon hearing of the call from the Raikage. I hope you'll be there, onīsan." |

Osa paid he's father's little jab no mind. He was used to it, and by this point he did not care. Or at least that's what he tried to believe. There was probably some part, deep inside of Osa that wanted his father's acceptance. Who wouldn't want to make their father proud? But that sort of childish naivety had been buried under scorn and anger. His drive to grow stronger was not to prove himself to anyone. He simply wanted to smash his old man's face in.
Besides, A had accepted him as his kin long ago. Osa could still feel the Iron Claw crushing his skull from that day.
So fuck what Jōi had to say.
"I'll be sure to keep an eye out," Osa said in regards to D mentioning some of his subordinates wanted him dead. It was not surprising. He was the Raikage. More than a fancy set of robes and hat the title came with a target on your head. "We may not share a village, but you're family. That means something. To me, at least," he said as he started to make his exit, walking past his father without much thought. "I'll be around for a little bit. Have Tsuyoi or Sukui tell me your plans for the summit. I'll inform the Hokage upon my return. Until then...it was good seeing you, otōtosan." He then looked back at Jōi. "Father."
And with that he made his exit.
