[/a] It had been a few weeks since they had gotten back from the Chunin exams and everyones mood seemed to be increasing, even Arata's who for a while had seemed rather down. The last few days had been light training, which to Shikaku meant finding a quiet place and napping mostly, had passed and he was summoned to the Hokage. The details of the mission were rather generic being an escort mission, but none the less it was his duty and responsibility to the village. He even had the added bonus of being allowed to select his own team, which seemed to be the perfect way to help one of his buddies out of their mood.
Shikaku followed all the normal protocols sending out the scrolls the night before and before to long he was sure his squad would be arriving soon.
Thinking over the present circumstances Shikaku remembered the Hokage's words, he had strongly suggested that Shikaku bring both Minato Uzumaki as well as Arata Uchiha. Believing the opportunity for teamwork would allow them to overcome the circumstances surrounding their fight at the exams. Reaffirming the bond of shinobi brotherhood between them and allowing them to grow stronger from the experience rather then holding any resentment. how could Shikaku argue with those reasons, plus a suggestion from the Hokage is similar to a direct order in most cases. Yet Still Shikaku hoped he wouldn't have to deal with to much in fighting, not only for the safety of his team but so that he could accomplish yet another mission successfully.
He waited at the cafe where the scrolls had stated he would be, figuring that a group meal on him would get this mission going with the right mood.

It was a nice day out as Arata walked the streets of Konoha on his way to meet Shikaku. For the last few weeks he had been training harder then ever before, in his eyes he had to make up for the failure at the exams. Having received a scroll the night before he had already packed his stuff for the mission with high hopes. It would be a chance to re-mend what ever bond he may have damaged with Minato in their fight. Now he realized how dumb he was being, letting himself get in the way of winning. Not to mention insulting Minato's shinobi way when he knew his friend loved this village, maybe even more then Arata.
Stopping he looked up at a sign above a cafe to ensure that he had come to the right place. When he was sure he walked inside with a deep breath, he wondered if Minato was going to be angry with him or not.

SIDE ARC: SPIRALING ADVENTURES His brief vacation away from the village was rather liberating. He felt revitalized, it was almost as if that was just wanted he needed- a break. He'd been away from the village for about a two weeks, roughly. Walking in through the front door he yawned, a deep sigh was released from his mouth, he dropped his bag by the front door as he advanced forward to no welcome. 'What's going on?' he asked himself as he looked around. There was usually always someone in the den area of their home, where his younger sister played with her dolls, which right across the hall from the front door. His sister would usually run to him and give him an unreasonably tight hug, while his dad came as asked him a million and one questions about his day. His mom, she was a big activist who was always out away helping some other village with their problems therefore he didn't see her much.
Which is exactly what he was shocked to see her step into the den with a big smile on her face.
"Welcome home, sweetie." his mom welcomed him with a smile.
"Mom? What're you doing home?" he interrogated, scratching the back of his head with his index finger.
"I just completed my last excursion, and I heard that you were just promoted to Chūnin. I came home to congratulate you, Mikkun." With her arms wide open, she stepped over to Minato and gave him a big hug, her warm embrace was soothing.
"Welcome home, mom."
Waling into his room he could see a green scroll sitting on his bed. Unraveling the scroll, his green eyes danced upon the page as he skimmed over it briefly.
"Shikaku's requesting me for a mission," he sighed, jumping back onto his bed. "I suppose I'll go. I have been gone for two weeks. Maybe this mission'll be fun."
Clapping his hands, the lights shut off promptly. After dropping the scroll and letting it roll onto the ground, he went to sleep.
He woke up late for once. With his mom being home, he didn't have anyone coming to disturb him. He was able to get through most of the morning without much hassle. There were a lot of people who congratulated and praised him for his performance during the exams, he managed to end the second exam in less than two minutes.
Many praised him as a genius; whether accurate or not, Minato was never one to respond to such labels. He felt like they defined him incorrectly...or placed him into a certain stereotype.
After stopping for some ramen at Ichiraku's, he got a to-go order, and headed over to the cafe that his scroll told him the squad that he was assigned to was going to meet at. He didn't remember much about the details of the mission, or who else would be going, but he knew who the scroll was from, and where the side not said to meet.
He figured he can figure out the rest once he got there.
"Oi," he called over to Shikaku after spotting him out. He strolled up through the corridor of the cafe. Bowl of noodles in one hand, and chopsticks in the other, he lifted a roll of noodles into his mouth. "How's it going, Shikaku?"

[/a] Shikaku quietly waited for his squad not knowing how late they had stayed up the night before. They had a few hours to waste anyways, it only took half a day to get to their destination and they didn't have to be there till the next morning.
One by one they both found there way to the cafe Arata upon arriving had decided to go get some food and then a few moments later Minato arrived. A bowl of ramen in one hand, he sat down said hello and quickly started eating while Shikaku just stared with a smirk.
How much you gonna eat Minato, i already ordered you some barbecue pork?
Soon Arata returned to the table with the waitress quickly following behind him. The wafting smell of barbecue pork filled the air and Shikaku's mouth watered.
Foods on me guys dig in Shikaku said while he started to eat a serving of pork himself.

When he came in Arata got distracted by one of the waitress so he did not notice that Minato had come in just after him. She blushed for a moment when Arata complimented her, but their conversation had been cut short when a order got called out. The girl rushed too get the food, seeing that she was having trouble he offered her some help getting them to the table. Luckily he realized she was taking them to Shikaku's table. With a broad smile he followed her, and set what he had on the table then took his seat with his friends to start the meeting.
"Whats up guys?"
He spoke after giving the girl a wink to let her know she was still on his mind, the turned looking at them both. Feeling this was not a good time to try talking about the exams he figured it best to just save that for later. Though seeing them both in their Chunin gear made him feel out of place as he re adjusted his own gear, part of him hated that he had failed yet another was glad cause it opened his eyes.

SIDE ARC: SPIRALING ADVENTURES "I thought you summoned us here for a mission." His voice was bland, almost a monotone. As he arrived to the table, the only person he saw was Shikaku. Taking his seat, he turned back and peered over his shoulder after hearing Arata's voice.
'So this he's the other person?'
Pinching down on the bamboo sticks that he held within his hand, he went back to eating ramen. In reality, he was nearly done with his meal and he didn't really have any interest in eating much else. He was called here for a mission, not for lunch or for fraternizing.
"You should pack all this to go," he stated. "If we have a mission that we're doing, we should be going to our destination so we can make preparations, meet our contacts, and decide what routes we will be taking to get to where ever we're goin. We don't have time to be wasting here when we have a job to do."

[/a] Shikaku remained quiet while he continued eating his barbecue pork, there was a distinct look of focus etched across his face. He made no effort currently to respond to Minato or Arata, he just continued eating in silence.
Though he may have looked perturbed to other people it was a distinct look Shikaku was carrying as though all of this was a part of the plan. Minato and Arata had probably seen the face etched across Shikaku's face during training or while he found himself focused on a test or task thousands of times in the past.

Getting no response Arata decided to start eating seeing as he figured Shikaku already had this planned. He usually had things pretty well planned out so Arata trusted that he would keep them on time for their mission. Besides its not really Arata's place to say anything considering they were both Chunin, so in the long one both them would be in charge. Really he just wanted to get this mission over with so that he can start his training, a job guarding a caravan was not Arata's idea of a good mission.

SIDE ARC: SPIRALING ADVENTURES Unswayed by the Nara's lack of a response to his earlier statements, the yellow haired Chūnin pocketed his hands. He just finished his ramen moments ago, so he was literally standing there for a moment. He looked at the empty ramen carton that he just finished, and he could feel the imprint of the chopsticks that he placed into his front pocket.
His interest was slowly fading; within a moments notice, the young Uzumaki walked off and headed towards the exit. There were no words spoken, no emotions displayed, he simply left without a word being uttered. He was there to do a mission, not to fraternize and hang out.
Minato's stride was a causal one, the pitter-patter of his sandals upon the hardwood floor echoed. His shoulders swayed side to side as he stepped.

[/a] Shikaku quietly finished his meal as Minato left the cafe. He was unsure whether it was Minato's inpatients or a disinterest in the present company. Understandably so there was a mission to be done but it would prove to be the squads undoing if even the smallest interactions failed before they started.
Looking towards Arata, Shikaku silently set his bowl away from himself towards the center of the table. Then reaching out for a filled cup he gulped some of the now cooler tea that had been served. His demeanor wavering for a moment as he looked across the table towards his friend and now his squad mate.
Are you excited for this mission Arata? Shikaku said as he pulled out some scroll paper from his pocket, setting it down to reveal a map to their destination.

Finishing his food Arata watched as Minato walked out of the shop without a word. Shrugging his shoulders he finished up then pushed his plate aside for the waitress to get. He understood why Minato wanted to get the mission started, but it was Shikaku's mission after all. Shifting his view toward his long time friend with a slight smile on his face, thinking of how Shikaku always seemed to have a plan.
"Yeah. I suppose so... it should be fun"
He spoke only have amused with the thought of doing a low class mission, then again what should he expect when he was still a genin. Drawing his attention to the map Arata began to scan over the images detailed on the map.

[/a] As Shikaku layed out the path he had planned for them to follow for Arata he kept looking towards the door. His eyes flickering back and forth every few seconds, until finally he rested them back on the map.
So as i said we will take this path which should put us in the village right before nightfall. It should give us plenty of time to set up quarters for the night as well as meet the client.
Shikaku looked up once more towards the door as a smirk crossed his face.
But before we leave there is still one more squad mate we are waiting for, and she should be here soon.

It was another lively day on the streets of Konoha, that was were Tsume liked to spend most of her off time. Just the bustle and constant flow of people helped relax her a little. She wasn't sure why but helping others and witnessing their happiness made her feel like she could make a change in this shimobi world.
...I wonder what the other members of the team are like... Yawning and stretching she ran her hand through her wild hair and motioned Tansen to follow her. From what she understood Shikaku would be waiting at her destination, from there they would mostly start their journey. A smile came across Tsume's face as she approached the shop. There were quite a few familiar scents wafting from inside, one of which was the exact person she was looking for. As her figure was a mere silouette in the doorway she called out to Shikaku. "What's up lazy bones?"[/blockquote]
