~The night before
Returning home from the exams was not so exciting for Arata as he was over shadowed by Minato's success. He heard some claim that he was some sort of genius as if he had just completed a S-ranked mission. Though Arata payed little attention as he maneuvered through people so he could go home. At this point he just wanted to go get some rest in his own comfy bed so he could get up early to start his training. It was time that he kicked it up a notch to show these people what a real genius could do.
Walking through what used to be known as the Uchiha district brought Arata's thoughts to his clan. It was side to see that a once renown clan could be dwindled to only a few members, all at the hands of one of their own. His fists balled up in his jacket as he thought of what his ancestors had done, it was up to him to change the face of the Uchiha clan. One day everyone would not only know their name, but they would respect it like they do with the Uzumaki. Coming up to the door of his house Arata paused for a moment wondering if his father was home.
Pushing the door open he walked in to find no one home, which made since now that he thought about it. They were probably at the gates waiting for him to come home as a Chunin, but with that not being the case Arata had not even looked for them. Quickly he headed up stairs to go to bed, once in his room he tossed his bag to the side by his dresser. Stripping off his clothes he set them on the chair in front of his bed before sliding into his blankets. Laying down his thoughts of the exams drifted away as he fell asleep for the night.
~That morning
Waking up as the sun came up Arata gave a long stretch before jumping out of bed. He was in a hurry to get to the training grounds to work on some ideas he had, hastily he put on his training gear. It was just basic black shinobi gear that his father had given him, grabbing his bag he took off out the door. Quietly he rushed out of the house hoping not to wake anyone up, once out side Arata began to run down the street.
Upon reaching the training grounds where there were several different types of targets for Shuriken, Arata dropped his bag as he caught his breath. Taking one last deep breath he was ready to begin his training using wires, reaching down he removed his sword from his bag. A wire still hung from his hilt that he had put on it when taking the exams, removing the short wire Arata reached into his bag to grab more wire. Pulling a wire about 5 feet long he tied it in place of the other, and made a loop for wrapping around his wrist.
Originally he designed this to save himself from sinkholes in the maze, but now he had another idea. Getting in position a few feet from a set of 6 larger targets Arata threw the sword at on target hitting the edge. The sword bounced off hitting the ground, pulling on the wired he tried to do it just right so he could catch the sword without cutting himself. Though the sword took a funky twist so the blade came at Arata making him jump to the side to avoid getting stabbed in the leg.
"Damn. Got to get that down..."
He spoke to himself as he reached down to pick the sword up again to continue the same process. In time he wanted to create a new style that would utilize his Katon abilities...

Whether Arata knew it or not, his uncle had been there the whole time watching him train. His brown eyes studied the young Uchiha intently; reading his movements, Yahiko was able to come to a conclusion or two about his nephew after simply watching him train for fifteen minutes or so.
"You have to be more fluent in your advances, if you plan on properly wielding a sword." He started off by speaking in his causal tone, it was almost a monotone in tempo. Equipped to the back of his flak-vest, was the Kusanagi in all of its' glory. Reeling his arm backwards he grasped the hilt of the chokutō, unsheathing it slowly. "Try that...maneuver again," he spoke while taking a half-guard, the blade of the Kusanagi was pointing diagonally. His other hand was pocketed as he stood there waiting for Arata's advancements, if he were to oblige. "This time try it on me. I want to see how effective it is."

"Damn... I couldn't sense him..."
Arata spoke to himself after he recovered from the initial shock of hearing his uncles voice behind him. Taking the hilt of his blade in hand he slowly turned to face Yahiko while wiping some sweat from his forehead. He listened to his uncles words as he always had when it came to combat, but he could not help but to wonder how his uncle even found him here. Looking up as his uncle urged him to try his maneuver a smirk came to Arata's face upon watching Yahiko unsheath the Kusanagi, before Yahiko spoke Arata already knew what this could mean.
"Well... suppose it would be better to test on an opponent"
As Arata finished his statement he positioned himself into a similar stance as his uncle. Standing there for a moment Arata scanned his uncle as he pieced together a strategy for his attack. This was not the same as simply throwing a sword at a target that could not defend itself. It was not long before an idea Arata had wanted to try out popped into his head. Throwing his body weight forward it would make it seem like he was going to perform a downward strike but instead threw the blade at his uncle. Letting the wire flow through his fingers ready to try controlling the sword like he did with shuriken.

He stood observantly. The gentle sway of the wind causing his hair to cascade in the wind. His mind was clear and quiet, his poise loose yet proper. His pools of brown studied his nephew; he'd grown quite a bit since he last saw him. It would seem that he still had a lot of growing up to do, the energy exerted from his aura felt as though the young Uchiha was fighting his insecurities. Yahiko pondered, and just hypothesized that he had yet to find himself.
"You're telegraphing." Yahiko stated, turning in a swirling motion, evading the katana's blade by an inch. Instinctively and promptly, Yahiko allowed the Kusanagi's blade to defend with a parry, which caused his nephew's katana to skid off to the side.
"Is that it?" he asked, apparently disappointed. "You have no form, no drive- no wonder you were thwarted so quickly when you fought Uzumaki-kun during the exams."

A smirk came to his face as his uncle easily dodged then parred his sword as Arata had predicted. Pulling on the wire in the direction the sword was parried using the momentum to bring the sword away from his target. The smile faded quickly as his uncles words hit a nerve making his face change in a frustrated manner. Though he should have known others would look at the exams and assume Arata was weak... that was their mistake.
"He won... cause I let him!"
With that he spun the blade around with the wire above his head, instead of pulling it in he would shift the momentum to attack from the other side. His free hand shot down toward his left thigh in order to grab a few shuriken from his pouch, throwing them before his blade made its full rotation. Aiming the shuriken at the Kusanagi he hoped they would make him jump back into the path his sword was taking. If his timing was correct the shuriken would hit then his blade would hit his opponent from the other side.

"That's incorrect," Yahiko said bluntly, still following Arata's movements, he shifted his stance backwards. Even without the Sharingan active, he was able to read and react to anyone's movements that he was faced with. This was the reason he was seen throughout the village as an honorable shinobi, even despite the past treason the Uchiha were known for.
He literally caught the two shuriken around his fingers as they came flying at him. At the same time, he slashed the Kusanagi backwards, knocking the katana that came soaring at him into the ground.
"You lost to Uzumaki-kun because you're hotheaded, and weak. Your instincts are sub par, and no where near as sharp as they should be... Especially given your lineage." His words were brash, but he meant every single word he uttered to his nephew. He felt ashamed almost. When he was Arata's age, he had already been a Chūnin for three years. He had mastered the Sharingan, and even then, he hardly used it in combat- much like now, he had it inactive.
Glancing down at the katana that lied on the ground below him, he could see the damage in the metal that had occurred after clashing within the Kusanagi twice. Shaking his head, he raised and stomped his foot into the ground.
"You will never be able to effectively fight an opponent with that tactic," he said while pointing down at the now broken katana and the wire attached to it. "You really should give up on using kendō, you do not have the aptitude for it- neither did your father. You should stick to what you're good at. Forge your own style."

He could feel the anger build while his eyebrow twitched a bit as he listened to his uncle. The thought that his uncle looked down on him so much was amount the most frustrating things that Arata could think of. Even though Arata looked up to Yahiko in a lot of ways he was always caught off guard by how blunt he could be with what he thought. Looking down too his feet he clinched the wire in his hand before bringing his eyes back up.
"Tch. My father is too busy anyways..."
Speaking as he pulled the wire to bring the hilt too him, he started to chuckle to himself as he picked it up. Quickly untying the wire he tossed the hilt away before stuffing the wire into his pocket. One thing Yahiko was right about was that he was not as good with kendo, but he didn't have to be such a douche when he said it. Turning back toward the targets he pulled out 3 shuriken in each hand then prepped to throw them at the 6 targets.
"...I teach myself"
Calculating the angels on each shot he studied the wind current then threw the shuriken. Flying from his hands each one stuck into the middle of his targets, he was always good with his shuriken and wires. Even in close combat he often used the wired before he reached for his blade. Focused on his training Arata almost forgot his uncle was even there as he bent down to go through his bag.

'He's just as arrogant as his father was, but I see the potential in him.' His stride was a causual as he approached the young Uchiha, watching him wield his shuriken with deadly accuracy.
Growing up, Yahiko was much the same, he was talented at using shuriken, and weapons, although kendō and direct combat is where he held supreme. Reflecting back, he recollected one specific technique that he always enjoyed using--a technique which made using projectiles, like shuriken, very clutch.
The palm of his hand rested upon the shoulder of his nephew; correspondingly, he sheathed the Kusanagi. Now, he stood left on the side of the young Uchiha.
"I think I have a jutsu that I can teach you," he spoke confidently, admiring the accurately thrown shuriken once more. "Activate your Sharingan."

Having pulled some more shuriken out of his bag Arata began to think of the few times he had trained with his father. It was always just the basic techniques, mostly consisting of using wired shuriken. In truth Arata was jealous of Yahiko having been trained by Sasuke, even though he despised his grand father for the things he did Arata had to admit he was powerful. Shaking the thoughts from his head Arata got in position to throw the shuriken when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
Looking to his side as his uncle now stood next to him with his eyes focused on shuriken stuck in the targets. His heart skipped a beat when his uncle spoke of training as he relaxed his stance to listen to Yahiko. The moment he was told to activate the sharingan Arata's demeanor shifted as did what he was told, his eyes turned red. A single tomoe in his eyes showed his lack of experience with the eyes, though Arata did what he could to train with them. No one had ever really trained him how to use the eyes so he did not fully understand the potential of the power in his eyes.

Plucking a single shuriken from his nephew's hand, he grinned. "Watch closely," was all he offered as instructions as he tossed the ninja-star, then clapped his hands inward consecutively forming a string of handsigns. It would that, almost instantaneously, a hundred more shuriken were created--all shadow clones of the one that was thrown, all equally as deadly.
Tearing across the air, his hands moved into their next handsign, the 'hebi' seal, which somehow allowed Yahiko to maintain control over the direction and trajectory of all of the shuriken. In mere moments, the dart board, which only had three shuriken stuck onto it, then had every inch of its' circular form filled with shuriken.
"Kage Bunshin Shuriken no Jutsu," he spoke, reciting the name of the technique he just performed. "That is the name of the jutsu I'm going to teach you how to properly utilize."
