[atrb=style, width: 350px;] It was night in the village. It always seemed to be night for D ever since the attempt. He could feel his outlook on the matters before him growing progressively darker. His aides all noticed to and it led to them steering clear of him in recent days. The mood had spread onto the whole village really. Most heard whispers of discontent in the shadows of the lower village, saw something they might have perceived as treacherous. But no one thought anything of it. Not until those three Yorumon made their attempt on their leader. And now, it was apparent to everyone. The clans were taking sides. This civil war was real. Four shinobi stood before their young masters dressed in all black. He'd told them all to report to his office on this particular night, having met with them all at various times throughout the month. He was spending the time considering the plans of the mission--better clarifying the goal. If he was going to take a risk like this one, he had to make sure everything was perfect. That there was no margin for error. "Thank you all for coming tonight." D began solemnly, folding his hands atop the desk before him. "Ro, Yoippari Hakumei, let me begin this meeting by appointing you both to the ANBU. "Effective today, you will enjoy all the 'benefits' that befit the position. You will receive pay increases and should you face an untimely death, your immediate family members will be placed under the Cloud's official charge. You no longer answer to any shinobi by the Raikage, whoever might hold the position." D took a minute to pause as he looked in their eyes. It was a strange appointment because he didn't ask them if they accepted it or not. It was because there was only one answer that he omitted the question. "Allow me to shed some light on the situation, briefly. I am conscripting you both into ANBU. This is no option to either of you. I apologize for this... "Ro, you are the senior jinchūriki of this village, and while I don't want to risk your safety in this time, I have no other shinobi with the amount of strength necessary to face the bijūtsukai. Hakumei, I also apologize to you, uncle, for this conscription... but your prowess in our techniques is second-to-none in our clan currently. Your skills are too needed away from our village. "You both are no longer to be known by your given names on matters of Kumogakure business. Instead you will operate by codenames. Ro, you are from here-on to be called Seiza. Hakumei, you are from here-on to be called Satori. "Welcome to the ANBU" D gestured toward two boxes on his desk, for they held the masks that would make their appointments official. In matters of the Dark Side, there was no paperwork. No records. Only a verbal agreement between a Kage and his sworn shinobi and a mask to seal the deal. The Raikage then turned toward Rin, smiling at his old academy teacher. A smile from the young man was a rarity nowadays, something that spoke to his good feeling toward the woman. "Rin-sensei, I apologize, but I must also conscript you back into the ANBU from your retirement. You will re-assume your codename of Noi." He gestured toward the third box on the table which held Rin's mask from all those years ago before she went into retirement. "Odawara Mamoru, it's good to see you again. You will be called to the ANBU once again as Kuwabara. You have your mask." "Now that we're all acquainted, I should tell you all why I brought you all here and why I conscripted three of the four of you. "You four will be going a black operation into the other countries to gather intelligence on the Bijūtsukai and all affairs surrounding them. I give you free range on what leads you wish to pursue and what questions to ask. The only requirement is that no one be able to trace your presence or activity back to our village." He produced a scroll from the desk he stood behind, holding it in his hands as though it were the heaviest thing in the world. "What will make this mission especially trying is that you're not to return until you can gather actual tangible information about these people and their intentions. Primary goals should be to gather information on members of the organization and their skills. Equally as important is to find information on their future operations. "As far as team roles, Noi, you will take the primary offensive position. Kuwabara, you will be the medic of the cell. Shibari, you will serve as support and the primary intelligence gatherer. Seiza, you are to refrain from combat if the heat turns up too hot--that is until the heat is too hot for your teammates. Only then can you tap into your full strength--Do not use the Eight Tails unless absolutely necessary. "I don't need to tell you this mission is of the utmost importance. It is S-rank. If there are any questions... now will be the time to ask them." |
