UNRANKED Kanmimi | Emperor’s Ear The kekkei genkai of the Kogaku clan. Kogaku are possessed of unmatched hearing, capable of perceiving and deciphering sound waves at decibels beyond normal human hearing, as well as hearing the natural human range at enhanced levels. For instance, a Kogaku’s hearing is so powerful they can distinguish between heartbeats of individuals in an adjacent room.
The kekkei genkai also grants the owner telescopic hearing, the ability to focus on a sound miles away and hear it as if they were in the same room. Because of the heightened sense of hearing, Kogaku are negatively affected easily by noise, and as such all Kogaku wear special noise-reducing headphones that limit the ability.
Kôgi | Wide Sense Tensei is a sensor type shinobi. He can sense chakra usage, differentiate the chakra signature of individual shinobi, and gauge distance. He can combine this ability with the Kanmimi for precision tracking of targets.
Hijutsu: Ongakuton | Secret Art: Music Release The Kogaku clan hijutsu, Ongakuton is a style of genjutsu utilizing sound generated from musical instruments. These techniques are performed not by handseals, but by playing a musical instrument. Tensei plays the guitar for his techniques.
D Kusaho | Grass Step A movement technique utilized by ninja from Hidden Grass. The ninja can emit a fixed amount of chakra from the bottom of their feet, to muffle their footsteps so that they cannot be heard. It muffles the crunch of snow or sand, the crinkle of leaves, even the snap of a twig.
Gikusaho | False Grass Step An illusionary technique utilized by ninja from Hidden Grass. Once this illusion is cast, the user can direct the relevant sights and sounds to manifest wherever they please. This illusion is primarily used to mimic the sounds muffled by Grass Step, though it can also manifest breaking branches or rustling bushes. It can even create voices.
This illusion is commonly used to make a concealed ninja appear as if they are somewhere where they are not, or to make it seem as if the ninja has hidden allies, or to make it seem as if a trap lies ahead. The illusion can be tacked upon another illusion, in particular one which conceals the user, to assist in stealth.
Kusa Senbon | Grass Needle A ninja technique commonly utilized by ninja from Hidden Grass. The ninja holds blades of grass in their hand, and applies chakra to them to make them hard and sharp. The small grass blades can then be thrown like needles. The blade of grass can alternatively be held in the mouth and charged with chakra, allowing the ninja to conceal the blade and spit it from their mouth as a projectile.
C Ongakuton: Kodawari | Music Release: Obsession An illusionary technique of the Kogaku clan. This technique is performed by playing an instrumental piece, and affects a single target. So long as the target can hear the music, they cannot look away from the musician, or hear anything other than the music.
Ongakuton: Nandokuka | Music Release: Obfuscation An illusionary technique of the Kogaku clan. This technique is performed by playing an instrumental piece off-key and with painful sounding key changes, and can affect multiple targets. So long as the targets hear the music, they cannot focus their eyes on anything or hear anything other than the music.
Kusagakure no Jutsu | Hiding in the Grass Technique An illusionary concealment technique utilized by ninja from Hidden Grass. Rather than being cast on a target, the illusion is cast over the user's own body, affecting what others see when they look at the user. The illusion allows the user to blend into their surroundings, primarily grassy or forested areas.
The illusion is most effective when the user is moving slow and close to the ground, crouching or crawling. If the user attempts to run or make a sudden movement, the illusion blurs a bit, allowing others to notice an inconsistency in their environment.
Kurochikurin | Black Bamboo Forest An illusionary technique utilized by ninja from Hidden Grass. Upon being cast, the illusion creates a thick forest of strong-smelling black bamboo. The bamboo sprouts from the ground and swiftly grows into a seemingly vast forest, which appears inescapable to the target or targets. Day seems to change to night as well, further hampering the target's senses.
Kusame | Grass Sprout A ninja technique commonly utilized by ninja from Hidden Grass. The ninja places their hand on the ground and directs chakra into the earth. Pockets of grass can then be made hard and sharp, not unlike small blades poking up from the earth.
These blades of grass can even be made to fire from the earth toward a target. Two hands placed on the ground can transform an entire field of grass into projectiles. The ninja must maintain contact with the earth to keep the grass stiff.
B Ongakuton: Ensoukai | Music Release: Concert An illusionary technique of the Kogaku clan. This technique is performed by playing and singing a lyrical piece, and can affect multiple targets. So long as the musician is performing, those affected find themselves standing in a crowd of people at a concert, unable to see or hear anyone but the musician and the illusionary crowd. Those affected see whatever form of musical concert they would be expected to see based on the location they are in.
