HI NO KUNI Gen'ei's Training Site Gen'ei was in a somewhat awkward position.
He was hanging upside down, his sword dangling at an odd angle from it's strap, and both feet caught in a tangle of vines which had been caught in the crook of a tree branch when he'd landed wrong after a Shunshin. The branch had looked solid, but where he'd stepped had just been vines. The masked shinobi groaned in irritation, his arms crossed as he hung upside down and mentally scolding himself.
After he finished explaining to himself that he must be careful about where he steps he glanced 'up', which was actually down, to see his wolf Fenrir sitting on the forest floor staring up at him with a sarcastically curious look on his face. "Yes, yes, very funny." He yelled at the wolf before reaching for his sword. It took him a moment to grab the weapon because of the upside down nature of his position, but he was able to.
Using his strong core muscles, Gen'ei bent himself upwards - a movement that was easy when standing up but somewhat more difficult when hanging upside down - and used his sword to slice away enough of the vines that they gave way and released his feet. While falling, he dropped his torso back down which allowed him to use the momentum to flip himself rightside up before landing in a crouch. Standing back up, he sheathed his weapon.
"You know, if I didn't know better I'd say the forest was trying to trick me." He muttered to Fenrir, who merely snorted in response. "No, I'm not just clumsy!" He responded, knowing what the wolf meant by that. The silver haired shinobi wasn't dressed in his ANBU outfit, but his normal clothes, and as such he toyed with the hitai-ate that hung around his neck for a moment while he gathered his bearings.
"Ah, there we go." He said, gazing in the direction of his private training grounds. He patted Fenrir on the head, and proceeded to walk towards the area he'd always used to train by himself. It was a small clearing in the forest, with trees clearly injured by all variety of techniques from taijutsu to ninjutsu, and in the center was a hollowed out stump lined with stone that he used as a campfire. When he approached, he held his right hand in a kata and spoke. "Katon: Tenkajutsu." The technique causing the fire to leap to life.
"Alrighty, time to work on creating a powerful technique!" He said, pumping his fist in the air. The only question was, how would he make it? Jutsu Used Katon: Tenkajutsu | Fire Release: Ignition Art A simple one-kata technique that causes a fire to start at a target location when there is an appropriate amount of fuel for a fire to sustain itself. This can only be used to light fires where fuel is already present, it cannot conjure flames from nothing.

Swiftly Tenkō made her way through the forest, beads of sweat rolling down her face as she ran. Strapped to her back was a large tortoise shell which was proving to be exceptionally heavy today, despite her strength. She zigzagged through the trees, jumped over bushes, and only glancing back occasionally to make sure she was still being followed. "Don't tell me that you are tired already," she called back in an almost taunting tone. Just a little further, she thought to herself as she focused ahead of her.
A monstrous roar erupted from behind her, followed by the sound of pushes being uprooted and loud stomping. It was coming. It understood what she said, and it did not approve. With its intent to kill reinvigorated the beast burst forth with newfound speed, catching Tenkō off guard. "Oh," was all that she muttered before the massive bear's paw cut through the air and slam against the tortoise shell and propelled her into a tree. Once more the giant bear roared, a hint of arrogance in its tone.
"This is as good a place as any," Tenkō muttered to herself after she skid to a stop and picked herself up. She then slipped her arms out of the tortoise shell and allowed it to fall to the ground, causing a small tremor as a result. As the bear slowly drew closer Tenkō could not help but wonder what the animals in the Forest of Death were eating. Especially this one since it got big enough and smart enough to escape. Normally, in situations like this the animal would be knocked out and brought back to the forest. Unfortunately, this bear had already ransacked a nearby village and killed over ten people. It needed to be put down.
But not before she had some fun.
The two roared in unison as they charged. The bear rose on to its hind legs long enough to display its powerful form before swiftly bringing down its gargantuan paws in an attempt to smash Tenkō. She dodged to the left and sent a quick jab combo to its body, making sure to dial back her power. This was an exercise in finesse and control. The beast roared out once more as it quickly turned and attempted to claw her face. She ducked down low while sweeping to the left and landed two more body blows. The bear growled before she planted a kick square in its chest that sent it stumbling back.
"I expected you to put up a little more of a fight," she said as she fell into her stance.

"Hmm... if I use fire chakra to create a giant spinning death ball, could I make it explode when it hit someone...?" Gen'ei asked to himself, sitting cross legged on a stump. Fenrir, less than impressed with Gen'ei's lack of success in creating his 'super powerful technique', puffed softly. Gen'ei deigned not to notice and went back to his planning.
It was at that point that he heard the bear roar.
Fenrir's ears perked up and the wolf turned to look in the direction of the bear. Gen'ei, taking it one step further, leaped into action and in a single motion stood and leaped, vanishing in the direction. "I might come up with some inspiration if I fight a bear!" He said, grinning behind his facemask. As he moved, he heard additional sounds - as if the bear was fighting someone. His face became deadly serious at that thought, and his mind went to saving whoever was in danger of being mauled by a bear.
He arrived on the scene, hanging upside down from the bottom of a tree branch and staring 'up' at the action, shortly after Tenkô kicked the bear. His arms crossed, his golden eyes watched the two in curiosity. "Oh..?"
He hadn't known anyone else to come train in this area of the forest, much less anyone who brought their own bear to spar with. Fenrir padded onto the topside of the branch he hung from, the wolf laying down and looking down over the side of the branch with a disinterested look in his eyes. Gen'ei swiftly realized that the person below him was in no real danger, and as such relaxed a little to watch the fight. "Who do you have money on, Fenrir?" He asked, looking 'down' at the wolf above him.
The wolf merely snorted n response.
