Tetsu no Kuni
Civilian Village
Civilian Village
Snow fell in waves on a formerly quiet village within the borders of Tetsu no Kuni. What appeared to be a peaceful evening was punctured by the screams of innocents being driven from their homes by bandits, villains from Shinobi ruled lands who fled to Tetsu no Kuni under the assumption that it was a place where they could run rampant without the oversight of shinobi villages to worry about.
That assumption would prove false shortly, as the sound of hoofbeats drew the bandits attention. There were twenty or so of them, their leader reclining atop a stolen chair in the middle of the village as his bandits brought him people and whatever looted items of value they could find, and when the hoofbeats were heard most of them were in the open. They looked to the road coming into town, and beheld a fearsome sight.
Eleven armored men rode hard on their horses, weapons bared in defense of the village. All armed and armored, the civilians of the area immediately recognized Sanada Yukimura and the Sanada Jûyûshi. The bandits attempted to act fast, grabbing civilians as hostages and human shields. As they did so, arrows shot out from Inahime's bow, striking multiple foes in the throat and between the eyes, launching them backwards away from the civilians.
Yukimura leapt from his horse, his cross spear in hand. He landed hard on one of the unlucky foes, his spear pinning the opponent to the ground beneath him as the rest of his band dismounted in a similar fashion, Inahime choosing to stay astride her horse for the best vantage. The warriors then methodically began to clear the town out, Yukimura retrieving his spear from the corpse beneath him as he approached the bandit leader, who had risen from his seat with unwarranted confidence and drew his blade.
"So this is the famed Sanada brigade? I'll cut you dow-" Yukimura's spear cut off the bravado, the chakra of his Samurai Tôjutsu extending his reach and piercing the enemy in the throat long before he was within range. He released his chakra, prompting the enemy to fall, and motioned for his page, Ichiken, to assist him in freeing the civilians who had been tied up near the leader. Ichiken placed a bolt from his arbalest into the chest of a nearby bandit before proceeding to assist his master.
"Good people." Yukimura spoke, his voice calm amidst the chaos surrounding them. "Worry not. The Sanada Jûyûshi have arrived to aid you. Please remain out of the way of the samurai and away from the bandits until we're sure they're all gone." He planted his spear in the ground next to him and knelt to untie the bonds on a young girl next to him. As he did so, an opportunistic foe that had hidden amidst the snow rose with blade in hand. Before he could strike, or the child Yukimura was helping could cry out a warning, an arrow launched him backwards and off his feet. Inahime would not allow such a person near her commander, after all.
