The village hidden in the mists has changed a bit since its last known contact with the outside world. The Rokudaime Mizukage was not a very open man, and he preferred to keep the village away from other nations "As none could be trusted" or so he had said. During his reign in office, he used military contracts and shinobi to build defense walls around the village. These walls stand at one hundred feet high, are made of metal and have a large open running through them that circulates water to the wall. Every hundred feet or so, there is a guard post, where there is usually one to three chuunin level ninja or better on duty, depending on the rotation of shifts. Each outpost has armaments, weaponry, exploding tags, and so on to help defend that section as well as a main radio siren which can be activated near either of the two doors leading into the outpost. The siren can be heard all throughout the village.
The village itself has undergone a bit of military redecoration, with key rooftops converted into like outposts as seen on the wall and buildings being fortified with similar shielding as if expecting a war. The streets have many pipes running alongside of buildings with fire hydrant like outfitting every few hundred yards, for quick access to water should any ninja need it. It was during this military renovation that the moral of Kirigakure ninja and civilians alike dropped, as they feared what would happen. Their thoughts thinking back to the last shinobi war, in which Godaime Mizukage Mei Terumi and other ninja helped out. These outposts have similiar sirens, to alert in case of invasion or attack. Certain buildings also had bunkers built into them, that connect to water ways below the village to lead out into the land of waves. These water ways are guarded by sensory seals and exploding tags that can be activated from the military headquarters underneath the Mizukage's office, where the sensory seals are monitored twenty four hours a day. This was also the Rokudaime Mizukage's doing, something the Shichidaime Mizukage Terumi Rinruri actually wishes would not be needed.
The Mizukage's office and military headquarters looke more like a fortress then an office, with guard walkways around the outside and sliding panels to seal the building up completely. The office of Shichidaime Mizukage is on the top floor, but has a special descent chute should the Mizukage need to get to the military bunker beneath the building. The military bunker has enough fortification and supplies to survive bombardment for years, there is a staff of ten senory ninja in place at all times down there monitoring various seals around the village, as well as sleeping quarters for the Mei Kiri *reference Kirigakure Groups[/su] and the guards on duty as well as the Mizukage, her generals and the councilors. All in all the village is no longer a nice place, but in Shichidaime Mizukage Rinruri's time in office certain things have made all the difference between the warlike mindset of her predecessor and the necessary actions of the village.
