· Art of the Naginata (なぎなたじゅつ, Naginatajutsu): The martial art of wielding the naginata. When fighting in close order, two-handed cut-and-thrust weapons, such as the naginata, are much more efficient than mere spears or swords because of their versatility compared to spears and longer reach compared to swords. In the early history of its use, the naginata was primarily used against cavalry, as its length keeps the wielder a safe distance from horses and their riders.
During the Warring States Period, the naginata was transformed into a symbol of status for female samurai, as well as being the primary means for a woman to defend her home while her husband was away at war. This period also saw the propagation of the naginata as a feminine art and the weapon serving as more of a symbol of devotion to a woman's family.
· Art of the War Fan (てっせんじゅつ, Tessenjutsu): The martial art of the war fan. It is based on the use of the solid iron fan or the folding iron fan, which usually had eight or ten wood or iron ribs. The practitioners of the martial art could acquire a high level of skill. Some became so skilled, in fact, that they were able to defend themselves against an attacker wielding a sword, and even kill an opponent with a single blow. Apart from using it in duels against enemies armed with swords and spears, the skilled wielder could also use it to fence and fend off knives and poisoned darts thrown at them. Like a sword, the war fan could be dual-wielded to parry with one hand and attack with the other.
· Senbon Shower (じょうろせんぼん, Jōro Senbon) [C-RANK]: A technique utilized by shinobi and kunoichi of Hidden Rain. After throwing an umbrella that has been equipped with spring-loaded needles into the air, it releases a hailing "shower" of needles. These needles cannot be dodged by simply moving away, since they cover a wide area in all directions, with their movement controlled by chakra. The needles are said to be able to pierce a five millimeter thick steel sheet, yet they can still be blocked by a powerful enough barrier. Many Rain ninja also dip the needles in poison to increase their lethality.
· Senbon Raincoat (かっぱせんぼん, Kappa Senbon) [C-RANK]: A technique utilized by shinobi and kunoichi of Hidden Rain. A number of needles are drawn to the body with chakra, forming a cactus-like defense against martial arts. Often used in the aftermath of the Senbon Shower technique, which covers a large area with needles from which any number of needles can be drawn to a limb or the entire body.
· Senbon Drop (せんぼんてき, Senbon Teki) [D-RANK]: A technique utilized by shinobi and kunoichi of Hidden Rain. A small number of needles are controlled with chakra, similar to the Senbon Shower technique. Often used in the aftermath of the Senbon Shower technique, which covers a large area with needles and makes this technique quite versatile and difficult to evade.
