Flashback: 1 month ago Not far from the village of Sunagakure no sato, there is a place where men and spirit are as one. The place known as Seishin, a holy temple that has stood the test against the winds time and time again. The outer gate, bearing the symbol of spirit, built around the temple and shrine, shielding it from the outside world and the desert winds. A lone traveler walked up the rocky path along the cliff side next to this temple, making his way on this pilgrimage to the temple.
At the gate, he knelt before the shrine, paying his respects, before hitting the gong next to the gate. The echo of the gong rippled throughout the area, before fading into silence. For a moment nothing happened, but then in the quiet, the gate began to open. Heavy creaking noises, as the large wooden doors swung open enough for the man to pass through. Once inside the gates would shut, as two of the younger Seishin monks closed them and bowed to the man. The both offered with their arms for him to head to the main temple, which was across the courtyard.
Here he saw various young ones, meditating, focusing as well as women and older men whom seemed to be laughing and enjoying themselves. Removing his hood, the man made his way into the temple, as he walked into the main shrine and stood before one of the largest statue of Amaterasu he had ever seen, with her hand folded in prayer. Below it sat one man on a raised platform, a woman on his left and and man on his right. Slowly the man approached and bowed to them, his hands folded pressed together in front of him.
"Oh Great Seishin-sama, please hear my words and grant me permission to ask of you"
The man said as he bowed, when he looked up he saw the older woman bow to him, to continue speaking. The light in the room cast a shadow on the man in the center of the platform, but it was to him that this visitor spoke.
"Seishin-sama, I ask to speak with sister who died many months ago"
He said and closed his eyes, when he opened them the woman had her hand raised, as if asking for something.
"I have this"
He said, and offered the woman a lock of hair, walking up the steps to her and handing it to her. She bowed her head to him, and accepted the lock. The other man on the far side then extended his hand, the same way the woman had. The visitor nodded and went over to him, placing a hefty bag of ryo into the mans palm. The elder nodded, and the visitor returned to the bottom of the steps. The two elders turned to the man in the middle, still vaguely seen by the light. The woman set the lock of hair in front of him, and the man set the money.
The winds began to swirl as the candles lighting the room began to flicker. The torches in the room went out, leaving all light to go. In the darkness there was a glow, from the man in the center, as energy built around him. The glow spread from the center of his being to every extremity, showing the turtle shell on his shoulder, the claw and pouch around his neck, the horn resting on his lap and the feather sticking from his hair. His white hair, spiky and long, whipping with the energy, his face held in concentration as the dark lines are seen. A trait of his clan, his family. Finally as the glow builds to a point we see him, Taikichi Seishin.
"Spirits beyond the veil, friends or foe, I invoke you...
We seek the sister of a brother, lost to us from here, bound by this lock of hair...
Come forth spirit fallen, and speak now with your kin"
He said, as he let himself open to the voices and words of the spirits. A soft echo in his head of their words, all the spirits whom were to contact him and the voice of one ringing truer then others. A woman's voice in his head, telling him of the man before them and what she wished for him to know.
"Your sister loves you...
She says she is at peace finally, and wants you to be as well...
She also says.... yes, I know spirit, I was getting there
She also says, make sure Muramasa and Tali brush their teeth, and that she will watch over them and protect them always"
He spoke, as the man burst into tears. Taikichi held his composure and waited, until the man was ready, a serious sort of look about the old mans eyes.
"Thank you Seishin-sama, thank you for putting my mind and heart at ease, thank you, thank you, thank you"
The man said, over and over again as he dropped to his knees bowing his head. Taikichi let is energy drain back into himself as the torches relight and the candles slowly came back on. Finally the room returns to normal as the man is escorted by two younger men, whom help the crying and happy man back to the courtyard and gate.
"Jeeze did you have to let him cry for so long, I thought he would never leave"
Came a voice near Taikichi as five beings manifested, a Monkey, a Bull, a Eagle, A Turtle and a Lion.
"Maki!
I couldn't really stop him, the guy was bawling all over the place"
Taikichi said to the monkey, who obviously was the one who spoke.
"Onee-chan would you like me to fly her home?"
As the eagle, as Taikichi turned to see the womanly spirit whom was hovering near the hair.
"Okay, Tomei but you be careful!"
Taikichi said to the eagle as with a grin the spirit bird swooped over and grabbed the womans spirit and soared through the walls. The others did not look impressed.
"How come she always gets to go out, and return the spirits?
Dao-kun, its because you cant fly, baka!
Could've carried her!
Yeah, like you would get far!"
As Dao, Shiki and Maki spoke to each other. They argued louder and louder before getting into a fight, resulting in a spiritual kind of dust ball popping up showing the scuffle.
"You guys keep it up and he's gonna put you away"
Came Yayoi, the floating turtle spirit. It was on that note the three of them turned into little motes of energy and flew back into their totems. As Taikichi just looked at them with a stern grumble.
"Like having kids all over again..."
He said, as he looked up at the statue, standing there with Yayoi as his family went back to their business. His vision would rise until he saw the statue in its entirety.
"Another day, another Ryo"
He said to himself.

Present Day
A sandstorm had raged for a month straight around the monastery after the summoning of the sister’s spirit. Rumor had it that it would never end, and that it was a sign that evil was taking place. When the winds finally died down and the sun kissed the desert once more, the appearance of a red and gold dragon did little to kill these beliefs.
It snaked through the air like it would through water, uncaring of the heat or the dryness. A mission had been granted to him, Ao Qin, and that mission would be completed.
The monastery appeared on the horizon and Ao Quin descended upon its massive gates. The monks within gawked up at the ancient creature, for none of them had ever seen a creature such as this in the flesh. Its ancient gaze looked over the hairless apes in search, but none of them fit the description that he had been given.
“I am Ao Qin, the King of Blood, and I am here to see Seishin Taikichi,” the dragon thundred, its voice inhuman and demanding. “Bring him before me, and with haste. A dragon does not patiently wait.”

The dragons words fell on a select few. Namely the children in the courtyard, who burst out laughing at him. They were laughing because something similar to this had happened and that beasts had be thrown back whence it came by Taikichi. That is until the old woman came out and shooed the kids off. Turning she crossed the courtyard to the beast, going as slow as an old woman would. When she finally got to him, after what seemed like minutes, her squinting eyes and smiling worn face looked up at the dragon.
"Oh hush you big softie---what would you be wanting with Master Taikichi?"
She asked, examining the dragon as she leaned on her walking stick. She didn't look like much, but this was Taikichi's cousin, a fellow Seishin and the old woman from the ritual about a month ago. This dragon, would be burning the wrong tree should he think to quarrel with her.

Ao Qin scowled at the laughing children, but the way the elderly woman talked to him nearly knocked him from the gates. He was a dragon, a legendary creature, something vicious and fearful. These hairless apes should have bowed to him and asked for forgiveness for pulling him out of his home and into this god-forsaken desert. But Seiryuu said they were an odd people.
With enough force to shake the gates, Ao Qin lept into the air and landed with a thud before the woman. His talons dug deep into the stone and he reared his head back, fixing the old woman with his gilded gaze. The dragon eyes watched her closely, careful to take in every muscle movement and vein throb. Humans that laughed at their betters knew something they shouldn’t, and that had put him on edge.
“Seishin Taikichi owes a great debt to us dragons, and we have decided it is time for him to pay it back. I will only discuss further details with him.” With that the dragon snorted, sending white steam at the human wench. He didn’t have time to talk to all these lower-levels, he needed to get his business done.

She just smiled and patted the dragons scales.
"Thats nice dear" [X][X]
She would say, like he wasn't as big or bad as he seemed to be. She could tell that seemed to irk the dragon, but thats really how she was. Plus spending your life working with spirits and mythical beasts, one develops ways of viewing these kinds of things as common place. Hell, they even had defenses against such things.
"Taikichi-kun however went to Sunagakure a few days ago to meet with the Kazekage---your welcome to wait here til he gets back"
She said with a smile.

Ao Qin was flabbergasted. He didn’t expect the humans to understand why, but his eyes went five times as wide at that news. Already the slaughter had began, and every passing moment more died.
“I must know where this ninja settlement is, woman,” Ao Qin said, his inhuman voice thick with determination and resolve. Even if things were looking bleak now, he had to make the best of it. He had a mission to complete; a mission that could either stop the extinction of dragons if passed, or mean the death of them all if failed.

The old woman just smiled to the dragon, before looking around.
"Hmmmm, now which way was it?"
She asked, as she looked to the north and then the east.
"It might have been east but then it might have been west..."
She said, pondering as she looked around. It was during this time, that while they were both focused on their task that a shadow passed by overhead. The screech of an eagle diving, came through and a large bird, large enough to carry several people streaked in from high above, as it got nearer to the ground it slowed with a flap of its wings before poofing in a puff of smoke.
With a flip forward, a man with long white hair and fluttering robes came out fo the smoke, landing on the ground triumphantly. Turning with a cheesy grin, his fingers held out in a peace sign, as he smiled to the old woman.
"Baa-chan, how're you?
Y'know you didn't have to send that beetle spirit, I knew the dragon was here"
He said, like noting was up. The dragon probably had no idea what they were talking about, as now he realized the old woman had been toying with him, stalling him.

Ao Qin realized what the old woman had been doing the moment Taikichi landed and began to speak. For a second he fantasized about biting the wench’s head clean off her shoulders, but he knew now was not the time for daydreaming. From the looks of things, the human he had been sent to find was as oblivious to the world as his Baa-san, and if that was the case…
We might all really be doomed. “Seishin Taikichi, near sixty years ago your life was saved by Seiryuu the Blue. You have been called on to repay your debt.”
At that, Ao Qin levitated into the air and moved over to one of the walls beside the gate. Deftly his claws carved something into the wall, and with a slap of his tail a puff of smoke rushed out. A large scroll was hanging down, filled with hundreds of names written in blood. Ao Quin turned back to Taikichi, darkness lingering in his golden eyes.
“Seiryuu the Blue is dead. As we speak, hundreds of dragons are being slaughtered or broken, hatchlings murdered, and eggs shattered. The Eboshi clan we had a contract with is nearly completely wiped out. Before Seiryuu died, he left me with one command, and that was to find you to save our people.” Ao Qin landed on the ground, this time coiled like a snake. “He wants you to summon his soul, shaman, and to sign the dragon contract behind me. From there, he will instruct us both on what to do.”

He nodded as he listened. It explained why he felt a spiritual pressure far off in the direction of Takigakure, and also why there were many spirits passing this way, fleeing that area. He brought his thumb to his teeth and bit, hard, as he broke the skin and signed his name to the contract.
"Figured it was inevitable, that old blue fool---always medling in dark powers affairs...
You all might want to get back"
He said to the spirits in his totems, his elder cousin and the dragon as he focused his energy. The items adorned about him glowed as the spirits inside moved away, and the old woman slowly shuffled back. Once the dragon moved, his hands would form five seals. His right hand, still bleeding would then be slammed into the ground, as a seal spread out from it. This seal spread out and covered the entire courtyard, glowing with dancing blue colors.
As the kanji of the seal became alive, with swirling energy, the entire area began to grow bright blue. So bright it was, that all other light darkened in its presence. Taikichi brought his hands back together in a focused pose, as he concentrated, the energy swirling around him and up into the sky.
"Seiryuu no Kami, I call you now from the veil between worlds---awaken great spirit"
As he spoke, the chaotic swirling became so loud it was deafening, and then all the world was silent as a light burst around him. This light would wash over the entire monastery shooting a surge high into the sky, for it signaled a spirit crossing back into the world.
There above Taikichi was the great blue dragon, visible yet see through, as were all spirits when they came through to this world,
Strategic Information 何の術を口寄せん:安らかにİ 46;覚め Kuchiyose no Jutsu: Yasuraka ni mezame Summoning Technique: Awaken the Restful
The Seishin have created a special kind of Kuchiyose, that can only be used with a contract the user has signed. Once used, the technique does not summon one of the creatures from the summons, instead actually summons a deceased ancestor of the summons *So if toad contract was signed, could summon Gamabunta, Monkey contract, Enma, etc... The user must still sign the contract, which requires them to track it down. But once summoned, the spirits have the same abilities they had in life, and are granted energy from the Seishin to be able to manifest and help them fight their enemies. The spirits summoned have to be willing to come, and still require the same amount of energy to summon them as if they were still alive. A-ranked

Ao Qin was quick to move out of the way, and when the ritual was completed, he had to hold back his shock when the soul of Seiryuu manifested. He knew of the Seishin’s mystical talents, but he had never thought they were more than folklore. Seiryuu’s wishes were supposed to be lost to the wind, and yet here he was in all of his glory.
And he was beautiful beyond words.
The soul looked around for several long seconds, seemingly confused as to where he was. But then his eyes came to rest on Ao Qin and then moved to Taikichi, queueing a wave of realization. Seiryuu laughed a deep, rumbling laugh, one that Taikichi would be familiar with.
“So,” the dragon began, his head lowering itself to hang just above the temple. His body was so massive it had to float above the monastery. “You have truly grown as I thought, young one. It has been a long time. I trust you still aren’t summoning demons in your spare time?”
At that Seiryuu laughed again, turning to face Ao Qin. “You did good, hatchling. Before we begin this meeting, I trust you have explained the purpose of all this?”
“I did, Seiryuu-kami,” Ao Qin said. He nodded his head in defferance.
“Good. Taikichi, I trust you have mastered shamanism completely in these last six decades?”

He just grumbled a bit, after realizing just how Seiryuu used to be.
"Nope.
I haven't trained in it, at all, you know between all the busy things I'm doing these days----"
He said with a complete serious face, before he cracked a grin.
"Of course I have you old snake, I am"
He said, as he stroke a pose with his arms pointed out to the left.
"The Great"
He said and then crouched as he flexed his arms.
"The Powerful"
He said, and then turned as he swung his leg and landed in ready sort of stance you would find in crouching tiger hidden dragon.
"Taikichi Seishin!"
He declared with a grin.
Everyone else in the monastery would just look at him much like:

as the crickets chirped.

While everyone, Ao Qin included, deadpanned at Taikichi, Seiryuu only laughed even harder this time. Dead or not, his sense of humor had been finetuned over the years, and ridiculous humans were perhaps the best form of entertainment. But as soon as the laugh started it stopped, and the soul turned a serious gaze to the shaman.
“That is good. Let me inform you of what has happened, youngling, before I make my request. Humans from Tsuchi no Kuni invaded, and though my partner, Seiichi, did well to hold them off, he too was defeated. The two began peace talks when a scoundrel from high court appeared with an army. With them were the Botsu.”
At that, many of the monks watching felt a chill run down their spine. The Botsu was Taki no Kuni’s corrupted version of the Seishin; an evil cult of shinobi that used chakra for their rituals and evils. It was said they were cannibals and rapists and practiced all methods of sin. “The Botsu killed me, but not before I saved the Tsuchikage and Seiichi. They are now in the Land of Salt.
“Every day since, dragons have been appearing in the spirit realm. They are dying, Taikichi, as is the family that we were bonded too. It is said a new Takigakure has formed, and they are hunting down every last one of us. I need you to sign the contract, bond with Ao Qin, and go to Takigakure and help those still alive until Seiichi returns.”

After his little shenanigans, he took in everything that was said. It explained a great deal, and with a look up at the "hatchling" as Seiryuu called him, Taikichi figured things were gonna need some talking about.
"Hmmm, looks like there is no way around it, and if they are messing with the spirits as you say---back up would be much appreciated"
He said with a glance over to the old woman, who threw her arms up in protest.
"Ooohno you dont---your the Buddha---you can handle it"
Came the old woman's scolding, and it sounded like she was speaking of something within their family. Looking over at the monastery main temple, where the large statue of Buddha was housed he sighed.
"Fine fine fine...you old bat!"
He said in dismay, and the old woman shot him a glare before taking off. His totem spirits came back over to him at this point, looking like an odd menagerie of animals lingering about him, fully visible much in the way Seiryuu was.

“Seiryuu-kami…”
Seiryuu turned his gaze to Ao Qin. Though Taikichi and the others couldn't read dragon facial expressions, another dragon could, and so the dismay was plain on his face. “Yes, hatchling?”
“I am not sure if I can bond with...this human.” Ao Qin looked to Taikichi and then back to the soul of his god. “I am the King of the Blood Dragons. I should not be with one partner.”
“I was with one partner.”
At that, Ao Qin diverted his gaze to the cobblestones. As much as he hated to admit it, Ao Qin knew that he had to give Taikichi his pearl. With a sigh the dragon uncurled and slithered towards Taikichi. He rose up to the man’s height, his stern gaze fixing the human.
“Seishin Taikichi, I have been commanded to make a pact with you. I do not want too, and I know nothing of you, but if it must be done...then it must be done. Do you consent to this?”
During all of this, Seiryuu raised his head far above the monastery and turned his ancient gaze in the direction of Taki no Kuni. Just as Taikichi could hear and see the fleeing spirits, so could he in this form, and fleeting wisps of mist and fog moved across the clouds on hurried winds. How many dragons had died or been broken by this point? How many Eboshi killed? Had Seiichi and Luan made it out of the Land of Salt?
No, Seiryuu thought. Seiichi will be weak without me to fuel the dragon pearl.
Once Taikichi answered Ao Qin, he’d find that Seiryuu had turned back to face him. “Taikichi, you can wield souls in battle, yes?”

The old man looked at the spirit, then the dragon, then the pearl. He understood what this meant, it connected him to things much greater then what he already was, and he was a man of connections.
"I get ya... though we're gonna need to talk big guy"
He said to the living dragon as he turned to Seiryuu. Once he was offered the pearl, he would accept it with a bow, and just kind of hold it listening to them both.
"Taikichi-kun does not "Wield" us in battle Yeah its more of a partnership Taikichi-sama though can use other spirits and help them gain power to fight"
Chime din the animal spirits, the first one being the bipedal bull spirit named Dao. Second came Shiki, whom was sitting on a statue of a lion, while Maki rested on the ground near him. Tomei was the last to chime in, sitting on the opposite shoulder of the turtle that sat on his right.
"Yes, I can wield spirits in battle---and destroy worse ones and beings if need be... But, really, I'm sure we can solve this problem without unnecessary bloodshed"
He said, and his words were a testament to the enlightened nature of his abilities, knowing about the after life, and how frivolous the actions in this world were at times.

Seiryuu pondered for a moment. Taikichi had grown into someone who didn’t feel the need to just wantonly murder, which was a good thing. But now was not the time to hold back or restrain. Seiryuu needed strength, skill, and above all, the desire to win. “You must sign the dragon contract, Taikichi, and summon what dragons that are still alive back here before they are all slaughtered. With them will come the Eboshi, and then they will regroup with me here.
“I also need you to wield me in battle. With my powers and your other spirits, we’ll be able to fight until Seiichi returns. I know you do not want to shed unneeded blood, but we dragons are calling on you to fight for us. You are one the last few hopes our species has, and you are one of the three that holds the future of Taki no Kuni in their hands.”

He nodded, as he held the pearl, and then figured there was no time like the present.
"Well then, first things first"
He said and sat down on the ground, as he did, the five spirits that were his totems came and sat around ihim in a star formation.
"Mother, Father, Spirits, Energy, Buddha...
By the five powers of governing, the five spirits of creation and the five elements, I give this ffering to you---Seiryuu the blue, great and powerful---to take residence on this place as totem and guide to fellow spirits and warrior of the worlds of men"
He said as he drew a scale, the same one that had fallen off Seiryuu oh so many years ago. Placing it before him, he pushed his spiritual energy from himself into the scale, all Seiryuu had to do was accept and this would be his binding on this plane, leaving him free to come and go as he pleased, and join with Taikichi in battle.
霊的目覚めのアート:グレー| 73;フルトーテムバインディング Reiteki mezame no āto: Gurēsufurutōtemubaindingu The Art of Spiritual Awakening: Graceful Totem Binding
If he accepted, then Taikichi would attach the scale to the bracer on his right arm, to be worn as part of himself like the other totems were. And then he would get to the summoning.

Seiryuu felt a piece of him move through the ether and into the scale that Taikichi had saved so many years ago. It turned into a bright star, hot and brilliant, before it rapidly cooled down when the sage added it to his bracer. The two had formed a connection now; a connection that could possibly mean the difference between extinction of the dragons or the savior of their people.
“Swallow the pearl now,” Seiryuu commanded. Ao Qin shuddered at the thought of a piece of him joining this joke of a man, but he knew that it must be done. Once the pearl was swallowed, he’d be able to draw on the immense chakras of both dragons, something that no one in the history of mankind had ever done.

He heard what Seiryuu wished, and after the binding was made, the dragon was now here to stay. But that didn't make this next part any easier, , he understood it would grant him power, of which he had never known but the question was from a moral standpoint of what was he giving up for this power?
"So, I just---uh---swallow this?"
He said tentatively as he brought the pearl up to his lips. He looked at the bead. He nervously looked at it, wondering if this was a bad move, and in those brief moments he fell into his mind as he pulled the spirits bound to him inside.
They debated for a long time, inside his mind, which was literally seconds in the real world, as the five spirits brought up the question as to why they would do this, when it is not the way of peace and enlightenment. Such harm to the spiritual realm would be done in a war, and they do not stand for it. Seiryuu would counter that this is the way it had to be, for freedom of these people in this distant land and in honor of the debt Taikichi owed. But the debt was in debate as well too, cause the life was saved, so too must he save one. Seiryuu had died but now was alive as a spirit here, so one could say that debt was fulfilled. But what constitutes the measure of what one life was worth? Seiryuu positioned that one life compared to the measure of thousands was an easier sacrifice, and Taikichi understood. He was the way point of the realms, the dead and spiritual world would come through him to the living, so it was his job...no it was his existence to settle these violent waves. In the end, Taikichi would quiet them, as they knew they were guests in his mind. and he came back to the pearl. After all the bickering, it came back to, did he need such power to do this, it was a dangerous prospect, one he didn't think anyone with his might could warrant having.
His position, by doing this, he would become more then what he already was, an almost unstoppable force. He remembered the war, the great 4th war that one with such un-equivocal power could wield and destroy hundreds in a single battle. He remembered Uchiha Madara and the horror stories of that battle so long ago. His worry was, would he become just like that, taking power for the sake of power to change the world as he saw fit. Sure, it wasn't who he was, he would never. But the question in his mind was did he truly know this?
As he stood in the darkness of his mind, the six spirits gathered around him, while he spoke. These thoughts echoed and every one of them looked down, even the great dragon himself. They knew of what he spoke, and knew his concerns, but this is when one of them came closer, it was the elder turtle, floating in the air of his mind.
"Taikichi-nii-chan... You will use this gift honorably and without succumbing to it...because you question if you would, shows you respect what is offered... You know what power is, and have no need for wanting more, this is why you were chosen as Buddha of this age...
We believe in you, Nii-chan"
As she spoke the other four came forward to and stood on all sides of the man, whom looked much younger now in his mind. Maybe no older then ten, like when Seiryuu first met him, and the others spirits waited, as they looked to the dragon. This was a family ritual, unity of the spirit and the body. With a bow, Seiryuu placed a claw on the young ones shoulder, as the world faded to black.
Back in the real world, the few seconds had passed and Taikichi smiled, he had his answer.
And with that, he swallowed the pearl.
